I think the Veltman mention is interesting. We have a bulging squad. Lamptey has his injury issues but both players are currently out of contract in 11 months.

Just like Potter played centre backs as full backs and centre midfielders as wingers, I’m pretty sure we’re going to see similar tactics from Hürzeler. Midfielders as centre backs (as seen twice against the Antlers) seems to be Fabian’s poison. How does this leave the pair’s chances at staying on this season?

Veltman was in a centre back position whilst Lamptey excelled in a sort of RB/RM/RWB/DM hybrid position. I’m not sure if we have many players in competition for the role Lamptey played but Veltman is up against more than a dozen if he is to be a centre back again.

It’s odd to see a Brighton player getting a lot of minutes in their final season (they are normally sold or too old and leave on a free to a team like Southampton). I can see both moving on.
