Loving the album. Reminding me very much of Sauna Youth's 'Distractions.'

Like the production, raw but distinct at the same time.

I'm really enjoying it.

"We're So Heavy" is a particular stand-out for me at the moment. I'm a sucker for vocals and hooks intertwining.

What has CHAPPERS suggested ?

Ever since he recommended The Killers - Hot Fuss in 2004 !.... he has been my music guru for stuff I have never heard of !

Man i had no idea it was that long ago....

I forgot to mention a month or two back that one of my favourite German bands had an album out. They're called Hundreds and the album is 'Wilderness'. They're a synthpop outfit from Hamburg with a female lead and I've been in love with them ever since I heard their classic 'I love my harbour', a tune that I discovered at exactly the same time as Danish band When Saints Go Machine's song 'Fail Forever' and who have a similar(ish) sound. If you haven't heard either track and melancholy electro/synth-pop is your thing then these will be right up your street.

I bought my copy from Rough Trade and it came with a bonus disc of remixes including this one by Robert Koch. This kind of glitchy, downtempo electronica is so much my cup of tea.

Has anyone mentioned We Cut Corners? They had an album out v recently that I've just gotten around to listening and got to say that I'm mightily impressed. I'm not sure what genre to describe them as, they tend to switch tempo and styles so frequently between tunes that they don't lend themselves easily to pigeon-holing. They sound, to my ears at times as heavily influenced by indie-folk from N. Europe but also a fair few bands from the States: Vampire Weekend being one.

Here's a few tracks from the album

The new Thee Oh Sees 'An Odd Entrances' (sic) is a curious album. It's relatively short, 6 tracks and coming in at under 30 minutes but there's plenty of twists and turns with the records, even within tracks themselves, shifting from easy listening to psychedelia with ease and there's even a few meaty numbers as well for the head bangers out there. The album cover freaks me out a little and I'm trying hard not to dwell on that.

I've just bought this. I've been an avid follower of Thee Oh Sees/John Dwyer prolific and consistently great output for a few years now and see him live every year. Loved the last album and the rhythmic direction he's taken with the two drummers (which works so well live.). This is supposed to be the companion to that album and am intrigued to listen to it.

Bess Atwell - 'Hold Your Mind'

Brighton folky singer/songwriter's debut album. Very much in a Laura Marling vein although her voice is a little more powerful IMO. I liked this album too, it's well produced, there's some strong tunes on there and as I say, her voice is quite lovely to listen to.

Very much 'late on parade' as usual but played this on the Forest trip and cannot stop enjoying it. Laura Marling, First Aid Kit, Joni Mitchell, Fleet Foxes I hear it all in there. Glorious stuff from a local product. More please. PS Nice review Buzzer
