I don't think you sounded critical, although I prefer the first two FB albums. But thanks for the clarification, which may mean it's the first album I buy in 2015.

I've been listening to a few new albums recently:
Fall Out Boy - 'American Beauty/American Psycho'. This is a big fat NO from me. Their brand of shouty pop-punk just isn't my bag. They've passed me by until now, I'd heard of them but never given them the time of day so this was the first album of theirs I've listened to and it's a dreadful mix of generic key-changing rock. Are they trying to be 'Green Day' edgy (another band I can't stand)? I dunno, I don't really care.
Belle and Sebastian 'Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance'. Radio 6 have made a big thing of B&S of late so I was hoping for great things from them but I'm not sure yet. They've strayed right into Saint Etienne territory with a few tracks 'Party Line' for instance and I'm not sure they're the better for it. I really want to like this album but so far I'm struggling to get enthused. I'll give it a few more listens and see.
John Carpenter - 'Lost Themes'. Now this is more like it, if you're a fan of electronica then I think you're going to like this. Dark (as you'd expect) but very listenable.
Pond - 'Man It Feels Like Space Again'. The Tame Impala side-project return for another psychedelic turn. It reminds me a lot of Flaming Lips in their pomp. This is a good thing.
Kitty, Daisy & Lewis - 'The Third'. I'm still not convinced they've found their best sound and so we've a mix of ska, rockabilly, good old rock and roll going on. It's good but I still think they've got their best to come.

And very sad news that Avi Buffalo have called it a day. Their song 'Overwhelmed by Pride' was one of my favourite tunes of last year and sad to hear that there won't be any more music from them/him. He cites touring as one big factor, he hated it and another being the general stresses of being a professional musician. Ah well, good luck to him in whatever he decides to do from hereon in but it's a real shame to hear that news.

Memories of You was the stand out from the album for me, and it was one of my favourite albums of the year. I hoped for more.
I feel saddened by this. He still plans to make music though, but not front/run a band or tour. Fingers crossed. Agree about Memories of you.

The new Twerps album is pretty good, a big improvement on their first. I'll review in more depth when I've listened to it a few more times - one for fans of indiepop, Go-Betweens, Flying Nun.

It is a shame. Two great albums to savour. I did mange to see him play live once and that was at Great Escape as part of an UNCUT evening. Was hooked from the start.

Prince Fatty Meets Nostalgia 77 - 'In The Kingdom Of Dub'. This is a superb album for any dub reggae fans out there. The title paying homage to the King Tubby albums gives you a clue as to what to expect and it doesn't fail. It's not so heavy as the classic King Tubby albums but there's plenty of meat on the bone for any dub afficionados. I prefer this album to his previous Gringo and Drunken Gambler albums, less gimmicky by far.

The new Phantom Band album is excellent. Seems there's a little more to get your teeth into than on last year's Strange Friend, which I liked but found a little disposable. A bit darker, always felt that part of them was a bit underrated.

Matthew Herbert's Part 8 EP is well worth a listen: it's quite easy on the ear, but a lot of fun if you're a fan of house/techno from mid 80s to mid 90s.
Keen to have a listen at some point soon to the new Bjork, and the Daigrams one - that sounds like my kind of thing.
Never heard of Viet Cong (or Women) so will seek that out for a listen, too.
I've only heard the single (on this thread, in fact), and my impressions were the same - its not a bad tune, but its like they are trying to be something they're not. Doesn't sit right.

Of course, it's not as good as the Go-Betweens - it's a 7 or 7.5 - but still worth a listen.
I can't play this at work, but I'll give the album a go...
