Have you seen The Comet is Coming live?

Absolutely glorious...like a jazzy rave. One of the last gigs I went to before lockdown. God, I miss gigs.

I saw them on the BBC Glastonbury sets that time. Thought it was the best of all the sets I watched.

Just one word seemed to cover their performance perfectly.... Energy!

I have seen them live and love them. Also seen Sons of Kemet, a different thing but equally enjoyable.

From that collection I only have... Bonobo, Four Tet, Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds. All are cracking albums.

Jordan Rakei is a new artist to me. What should I expect from him?

I saw Jordan Rakei at the Soundcrash Funk and Soul Weekender on Brighton Beach in 2019. His stuff is very mellow, very sparse jazzy keyboard...

He has worked quite a lot with Tom Misch, who I love, and FKJ, also excellent.

He's part of the South London Jazz/Soul scene, even though he is from New Zealand.

I love a lot of his collaborations (here's one he did recently) but find him a little monotonous in his solo work.

When I saw them at the Concorde I took one of my gig buddies, Dan the Palace Fan, who, like [MENTION=28490]Machiavelli[/MENTION] was a big fan of Shabaka, but very doubtful about The Comet...He was sucked in like everyone else. As he said, "After that, I get it." He re-listened at home, and loves them now.

It's an absolute corker of an album!

If you have a sub as part of your hifi set up, I can thoroughly recommend playing this track especially at the highest volume your neighbours will allow. It'll shake the floor and everything else with it

Liz Phair. Soberish. Car crash or masterpiece? It's been a baffling ride since the utter genius of Exile in Guyville almost – eek – 30 years ago now. All the way from 9.6 to 0.0 on Pitchfork, and after another decade of silence she's back with the next chapter. I'm fearing a fairly bland middle ground, but, well, you just never know…

Part Chimp have a new long player out, called Drool.
Avoid if you don't like ear-splitting relentless noise. I can enjoy this if it's done well, and the band that had a single entitled Chart Pimp, do it brilliantly. Even better in a smallish room for the full sonic effect

Bit late to the party but cannot stop playing the Lost Horizons offering 'In Quiet Moments' from February.

This led me on to their earlier work, 'Ojalá' from 2017.

Splendid work indeed from these 80s legends with some wonderful guests.
