And here we are. The final.

In the red corner. Hailing from Benfleet, Essex and standing at 5 foot, 10 inches. He represented the Albion from 1977 to 1982. He is Paul "The Tank" Clark!

And his opponent in the blue corner. Hailing from Liverpool and standing at 5 foot, 9 inches. He represented the Albion from 1981 to 1985 and 1993 to 1996. He is Jimmy "Hard" Case!

I saw Clarky play many times and I think even Jimmy would think twice about mixing it with him

It’s gratifying that in this particular ‘hardest’ contest, two genuinely hard men have made the final - unlike in some other competitions where a fluffy badger actually won it one year.

It’s Case, isn’t it? Sorry, Tank.

Easily could vote for both but Tank gets it for the memory that still lives with me to this day over 40 years ago when he 'tackled' Lil Fuccillo of Luton in the centre circle at the Goldstone and smashed his leg to pieces. To be fair I think it was a 50/50 ball but the sound of the crack as Mr. Fuccillo suddenly went from only having two bones in his lower leg to many pieces still resonates with me!

This is a genuinely hard choice. My memory of Paul Clark is a fuzzy one, basically just remember seeing one match where he terrified the opposition, but I was very young. Case on the other hand is much more vivid. I think Clark was dirtier but was he harder? Not sure. I voted for Clark though.

Jimmy is 70 now, Paul is 66. I wonder who would win a fight? That's the sort of thing people pay to watch nowadays.

Very, very close. Of course Case was the more accomplished footballer, but that's irrelevant to this.
Clark, I think.
Or maybe Case.
Where's the fence option?
