Sorry if this has been discussed here, but I was just browsing over some articles in the Argus...

Apparently the season we went down from The Championship (05/06) - The squad that faced and beat Leeds were on a combined total of £13k a week, whereas Leeds had two players on £30k a week each!

Kuipers, El-Abd, McShane, Butters, Lynch, Hammond, Reid (Robinson 81), Carpenter, Frutos, Carole, Hart
Subs not used: Mayo ,Kazim-Richards ,Elphick ,Chaigneau.

That is all.

i imagine the vast majority of those wages were on kuipers, butters and carpenter

there are two loan players in there, and 2, possibly 3 or even 4 players you could consider to be on youth team wages

I haven't seen the article myself but I believe it said the squad of 16 players rather than the team (ie 11 players) that was on a combined salary of £13K.

I wrote "The team that squad that...." :dunce: Meant to write "The squad that..."

I would imagine that we were not paying 100% of McShane's and Chaigneau's wages, but still...!

I would have thought that only Elphick and Lynch were on youth team wages. Lynch signed an extension after that. Jake had signed a few contracts before then. CKR must have been on a fairly decent wage as he turned down Leicester and Wigan for us.

Pretty shocking figures though and just goes to show how well we did (in that game), although Leeds are not a perfect model to judge wage wise!

bonuses are paid per point in addition to the basic wage so don't think our players are paupers.

A very astute way of doing things, although I suspect the players have not made much in the past three seasons!

significant bonuses were paid to those appearing in West Ham cup match - again astute as no permanent commitment and g'teed share of gate receipts.
