Albion's U-21s take on their Reading counterparts tonight at Culver Road, Lancing.

Maybe Andy Naylor has let the praise he has received on here today go to his head, because he has had a bit of a mare with his preview article on the Argus website. Anyone spot the faux pas here?:-

Chike Kande is expected to make his debut for Albion's under-21s against Reading at Lancing tonight (7pm).

The 19-year-old former Chelsea striker, signed on a two-year development contract, featured in last week's 3-1 defeat at Newcastle.

And, as if that wasn't sufficient:-

Glen Rea and Danny Pappoe are both suspended after red cards in the North-East.

...

Albion (from): Smith; Doherty; Barry, Hunt, Pappoe, Rea, Dallison, Harris, Starkey, Toko, Fenelon, Cole, Trialist, Kandi, Muitt, Deen, Davis, Wiltshire.

(Of course, anyone who has done a little bit of research will have known that punishments at non-first team level do not take effect until 14 days after the offence).

But thanks for the effort Andy. :bigwave:

Which u21 player do you think will break into the first team next? Should we get excited by any of them?

theonesmith - you should get excited by ALL the development squad - that's what football is all about, isn't it? Without hope what do we have?

More seriously, we have some promising centre-backs - Centre backs in reserve?

And our goalkeeping pipeline looks okay - Albion's up-and-coming goalkeepers

And there are reasons to be hopeful about Kandi - Why Brighton fans should like Chike Kandi

Unfortunately I can't speak from personal observation, but why don't you try to get along to Culver Road sometime and see them for yourself?

Would SH done better to have thrown Chike Kandi on the bench against Rotherham rather than Fenelon who should be at Lewes or Worthing. Kandi must have something about him to have been at Chelsea.

As I haven't got along to a DS game, do they play the same 'style' as the first team or is it more of a standard 4-3-3

So Fenelon who by all accounts did well last season out on loan and is/was wanted by a load of league 1 and 2 teams should drop down to local non-league ...

Why would you think that?

Because he was last week. I thought trialists were always shown as trialists.

Even in the argus he isn't listed

Scored 1 in 12 games for Torquay and could not make the bench for Rochdale in Div 1 so not that brilliant stats. What makes anybody think he could do it for us in The Championship if needed against Rotherham on Saturday.

What is rubbish an 18 year old from Chelsea now in our developement squad with a 2 yr contract compared to a 20 year old only ever played for Tonbridge Angels, Torquay on loan and our DS, any difference? Kandi is said to be very quick, something we are missing, and for 10 mins what was there to lose
