Albion have renewed their interest in luring Darren Currie back to Withdean from Luton in the quest for midfield re-enforcements.

Currie rejected a return to the Seagulls in the summer in favour of Luton but the Hatters have been in financial turmoil this season.

Albion boss Dean Wilkins is a great admirer of the 33-year-old, who was sold to Ipswich for £250,000 in December 2004 after joining the Seagulls on a free transfer from Wycombe Wanderers only four months earlier.

Skipper Dean Hammond's probable departure to Colchester and long-term injuries to Paul Reid and Tommy Fraser have hastened Albion's desire to add a third midfielder to the squad before the transfer window shuts at midnight.

They have already signed Steven Thomson from Falkirk and Shane McFaul from University College Dublin this month.

Their main target is still Chesterfield captain Peter Leven but they are reluctant to meet the asking price for the Scot, who was out for almost two years with a serious knee injury earlier in his career.

Sorry for double post of thread. It didn't register that the new thread had been started 3 minutes ago and was in process of doing it again (dodgy internet) when I realised it was already up. Apologies.

:lolol: I'm just sat bored at College, looked at The Argus site twice today and noticed things on there that hadn't been posted, so thought I'd get in quick and have been beaten twice by seconds

Interesting, Luton are still in deep deep shit despite their takeover. Having trouble agreeing a CVA, plus could have more points deducted for their FA charges.

Hopefully Currie will realise we are a more stable offer!

Do we really want him back, he lacks pace, and although he can deliver a good cross occasionally when here, he is also now a couple of years older.

Surely there are beeter wingers (with pace too) that we could look to sign, if not now, maybe the summer.

He would certainly fit the bill as the provider for whoever we end up with as strikers... I think it would be a good move.

Plenty of wingers about who can really fly, but how many can put in the sort of crosses that Curry does.
Also think of free kicks where he doesnt even have to run.
