I only seem to remember Ryan Giggs getting a hamstring injury every time Wales had a friendly or a qualifier in a group that they already had no chance in. He'd usually have recovered by the following week.

94/95 29 league apps, 96/97 26 apps, 97/98 29 apps, 98/99 24 apps. Wales were playing a lot of internationals then!!! :lolol:

Yes of course, let's see Day 1 was that minor game against Donny if I recall.

Brainless post of 2014 so far award.

Most on here slagged off Conway until his last couple of games. I would be pleased to have him back, but in terms of Premiership ready Buckley's pace, skill and finishing is different class, despite his injury problems.

Yes we all know about his goals in the Donny game. Alas however that form didn't continue regularly enough for me. I would expect more consistency from a player costing us a seven figure fee.

If Will Buckley performed at his best consistently he would be a Premiership player. We got him for £1m because of his injury problems hoping to be able to resolve them.

That first season at the Amex he was tremendous and a joy to watch. Unfortunately I agree his good games have come less and less often to the point that I reckon he needs to be sent away for specialist advice or his career will end prematurely.

Gus obviously thinks he can sort him out but I doubt that. I am amazed that we haven't accepted the £1.75m bid.

Me too. We could have signed Conway, and maybe another player too for that.

His original point was that Liam would sign for a year-deal. That's pretty short-term, and not one any footballer in Liam's position would go for.

Really you think he would turn down the opportunity to earn a million quid? Would any of us turn that down for a years work doing something we love?

£16k a week (assuming he gets a sign on) isn't that outrageous though. Many clubs in the Championship are paying that + more. I certainly think if it was only a 18 month deal, it's not cut and dry he would move, and would be very short sighted.

According to daily mail ( yes I know )! Average championship wage is 5k average prem wage is 22.5k. It would appear that he will at worst triple his salary I can't believe that people think he is shortsighted to move he won't do that with the Albion even if we get promoted!

What position is that? To triple his wage? To play in the prem? The way that people are talking here is that its a certainty that Sunderland will be relegated and you promoted (which is by no means certain given your position) As someone else said even if you do go up your not likely to match the wage he would be offered at Sunderland.

Fair enough, sorry I didn't read every post I was just skimming. You could argue though 1 year at higher wages would then mean he could command higher wages in future or at least he'd be taken on by another top end championship side and wouldn't lose out

The thing is with Bridcutt is that if he stays with us for the rest of the season and performs at his best, he will be sort after by Prem clubs, so it's not a now or never deal for him.

The real question is does he want to become a one manager player who only plays him one way? Or experience a variety of playing styles?

At the moment Oscar is letting him go past the halfway line, getting into the box, taking corners having shots on goal (he only had one shot on goal under Gus at the Amex) at the moment he is having one or two shots a game.

The way Gus played him was as a safety net, to slow down play and pass back and sidewards. This worked out in the Championship but I don't know how it would translate in the Prem.

I wouldn't be in a rush to play Prem football for 4 months.

Too true. Liam strikes me as a level headed bright lad ( not your average footballer) so he won't go to Sunderland.

That would be sensible, though in the meantime he will need to up the quality of his performance as he has been fairly poor sine he came back.

Here's a question for everyone - Bridcutt is rated as one of the best holding mids in the Championship, yet why do no Albion managers feel they can play him as a lone holding midfielder? There's always been someone fairly defensive minded next to him. Is this down to confidence in him or more down to our defence?
