Currie keen on Albion return
By Andy Naylor

Albion have expressed an interest in re-signing Darren Currie.

And the out-of-favour Ipswich midfielder would welcome a return to Withdean if he cannot find another Championship club.

The Seagulls are trying to strengthen their injury-hit and inexperienced squad with up to four permanent signings before the transfer window shuts at midnight on Wednesday.

Currie, who was sold to Ipswich for £250,000 in December 2004 only four months after joining Albion on a free transfer from Wycombe Wanderers, is among the players they have targeted.

Currie, 32, revealed: "There has been a bit of interest from Brighton and a couple of other clubs.

"I think there has been contact and they have spoken to Ipswich but I haven't spoken with Brighton about anything so I am just waiting to hear. I am pretty much in limbo."

Currie went on loan to Coventry for six weeks until the start of January after failing to feature in the plans of Ipswich manager Jim Magilton. He was involved in his first game back at Portman Road, against Sunderland but has been ill and out of the squad since then.

Currie is out of contract in the summer and he said: "I am just training and trying to get back in. I am getting a bit frustrated with it all.

"Ipswich are trying to let me fix myself up and get away in January. I want to stay in the Championship but, if I have to drop out, I would not have a problem coming back to Brighton. It is somewhere I enjoyed and it is nice to feel wanted."

But he's also made similar comments about Millwall who want him too. http://icsouthlondon.icnetwork.co.u...objectid=18534506&siteid=50100-name_page.html

It's strange I'm sure I read about 10 threads over the weekend, started by twats with names like "biscuit" stating that the deal was done and dusted.

It now appears that we haven't even spoken to the player and much bigger clubs with better resources are already in the hunt:glare:

Cullip is going to QPR.

I hope all those who booed Currie every time he kicked the ball at Ipswich last April remember that if he chooses another club before Wednesday.

I could do with a mouthful of seasonal Currie for the next few months. It would be unthinkable to consider a player of controlled passes and quality dipping crosses to come and filter some of our dismay, and teach the youngsters how to swerve and utilise what they have.
I always think it's best to wish the worst. And then a slurry of good things get boxed, wrapped and opened for Christmases we didn't expect.

I would come to us ahead of qpr considering his favourtism to the club..rangers are only mid-table hardly setting the world alight...if we went in aswell im not sure what he would do.

...I dont think he would expect 5k down here. At the end of the day...We wont get him...but would love him back!

I wouldn't want Cullip back. I am not convinced that the back four is our weakest point at the moment. If we improve the midfield and strikeforce then there is going to be less pressure on our back line. That money could certainly be spent better elsewhere.
