Nothing new there then, always shites it down when i visit.

Is the old mans spit and sawdust pub opposite the tube station, entrance to the shopping arcade (not St John's) still there?

There are quite a few old mans pubs near the shops, and the one outside Central Staion is still there. The new Liverpool 1 though, when it's fully open, will be full of trendy wine bars and resturants with no spit and sawdust in sight!

And are you Rusty who's Mrs's family were from Kirkby??

Love the 1 as you come out from central and it's facing you on the right hand side as you go into Clayton Sq. I've heard about the new mall, and visited the Met Quarter just after it opened. Wade Smith has gone hasn't it, shame that as it was a quality emporium, as was Quest in Clayton Sq. Have to say my fav shop is Open, Liverpool always seems to be about 6 months ahead of here in terms of what's in fashion wise.

The road with McD's at 1 end and Weatherspoons at the other can be a bit lively after the match! It's amazing how the Blues and the Reds have "their" pubs, kinda dispels the luvvy duvvy myth about the scousers all loving each other. That strip is scally central

And yes it is I. Visits to Kirkby have ceased as the Grief In law died 3 yrs ago, which in a lot of ways is a relief, but I do miss the trips up and a damn good night out. If Everton ever get to build in Kirkby, then the visits will recommence.
