Albion Goals Archive on NSC

Suggestion for admin staff of NSC. Why can't we have an archive facility for viewing Albion goals scored this season. It would be bloody useful for people that can't make away games (or those who are abroad) and a lot of people would use it. I know Seagulls World has this, but who wants to pay £35 for that..... If not NSC then surely someone with a bit of IT know how could sort out a site for this.

Where would we get the footage from?

I doubt nicking it off Seagulls World is an option

A few years back some one did have their own unofficial site, with highlights from Sky Sports used as footage. Just wondered if anyone else was doing it still ??

Meopham, Kent.
I would imagine it would contravene copyright. I'm sure Seagulls World have to pay to use clips.

It will be piss easy. I was thinking about setting up an underground site, with mirror links etc and putting the goals on it. Too much hassle though.

It is not 'piss easy' Dwayne, setting up an underground site with 'Mirror links'. What do you propose the links mirror exactly ?

A site can be mirrored, i.e. a copy of that site can exist but it must match that site, therefore act a a mirror if the main site goes down.

As MrV states the main problem is bandwidth.
It is also illegal to do this as all the clips are copyrighted.
This is what I believe Dwayne, you are talking about when you say Underground site.

If you are talking about linking into the Seagulls world site and by-passing their security, I would imagine that each club site has it's own security (encrypted no doubt). The videos are protected by the web applications context security at the very least.

All you need is a collection of the clips (downloadable from seagulls world) placed on a web server, with standard links to them. Easy to set up, but with the level of traffic, prohibitive to most, and as stated above, probably illegal.

Stoaty Ferret, if you are Ferret from the Official Site, why ask ? Surely £35 a year for full match comm, special events (fans forum), video news, highlights, interviews etc is ok for us that live miles away. If it was free, somebody would have to pay for the bandwidth (as in NSC and look at those problems) and put all the stuff on the site.

To be honest, i don't have a problem with paying £35 a year for Seagulls World, if I was in Sussex, I wouldn't bother, but up here I use it and get value, and the cash in part goes to the club.

Well it's illegal and its hardly going to go unnoticed is it!

Just to be clear it is no more illegal than Kazaar or what ever it is called is.

It is a breach of Copyright which it is the responsibility of the copyright owner to enforce.

Something I can assure you the clubs are now more than willing to do.
