Albion Collectors’ Fair
The annual Albion Collectors’ Fair will be held in the Directors’ Suite at Withdean Stadium on Sunday, 26th November, from 11am to 1pm, followed by the ever-popular auction of Albion memorabilia. Admission is free and light refreshments will be available.
(The event is in the new Directors' Suite, which is the old single-storey building directly ahead of you when you go down the ramp from Tongdean Lane into the upper car-park.)
As well as several stalls of programmes, there will also be Albion pictures and other items of interest to collectors on sale.
Tim Carder, chairman of the Albion Collectors’ and Historians’ Society which is staging the event, said, “We like to have a variety of memorabilia on sale which will appeal to all supporters. Whether it’s programmes, fanzines, handbooks or pictures, there’s sure to be something for everyone.”
The auction will follow the fair at 1pm. Tim added, “There’s nothing quite like the excitement of a live auction. You can easily pick up a bargain. We’ve had items go for as little as £1 but also up to £420.”
The Society is appealing for supporters to get in touch now if they wish to enter items into the auction or book a table to sell their wares. “The sooner auction items are in, the sooner we can catalogue and publicise them,” said Tim. “That benefits the seller by making more buyers aware, and makes life a lot easier for me!”
The Society’s aim is to preserve and promote the history of the Albion, and it acts as an archivist for the football club. All profits from the day go toward the Society’s funds and will help the establishment of a museum at the new stadium. The Society is also very willing to accept donations of Albion memorabilia, particularly programmes from before 1977.
PM me for more information or to submit items for auction. Here's a pic of a previous fair.
