Another exciting Sunday afternoon at the Withers where Albion Ladies defeated league leaders, Reading 4-3.
Reading, with 6 wins from 7 games were top of the league, with Albion in 3rd place and things did not look good whenAlbion's delightful posscession football counted for little against the prolific Reading team, who soon took the lead.
However, the girls kept to their high tempo, passing game, soon equalised and rocked the leaders by taking the lead, only for another fine individual goal to tie the scores at 2-2 at half time.
I had doubts that are high energy game could last in the 2nd half, especially as Reading had lightening pace up front but Albion had the better all round team and the visitors heads dropped as Albion went 4-2 up. As with all Albion teams, there was a late scare with a 3rd Reading goal but we were deserved winners.
Albion are home again next Sunday. OK it's 'only' Eastbourne so may not be so competitive. I've been really impressed by the skill, energy and commitment of the team. It's a pretty cheap afternoon at just £3.00 adults, £1.00 kids and free to Amex season ticket holders (I think) plus there's The Sportsman Carvery.
