Doncaster goalkeeper Alan Blayney has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

The former Northern Ireland international has been unable to win back his place following an injury sustained in September.

The 25-year-old had made nine appearances for the club this season but Sean O'Driscoll took the decision on Wednesday to release the player.

Blayney was signed from Southampton for £50,000 in January 2006 by former manager Dave Penney.

Henderson is our best keeper by a country mile, I bet if anyone asked the defenders who they would rather play infront of they would say the same.

Didn't we only sign Hendo because Blayney went to Donnie for more money?

Surely that means Keeley/McGhee thought he was better then Hendo?

I'd welcome him back...but only if one of the others went.dont realy care if it was Kuipers or Henderson that went, although i think we would benefit more financialy from Hendersons departure.

OK folks, simple solution:

bring in Blayney, move FDM upfront as our new target-man :jester:

well it doesn't seem like we are going to sign a striker so...

Would take him over Kuipers. Especially as Kuipers is out of contract at the end of the season.

Yes so would I.

Am I the only one concerned about this bit?
