I'm in. Off to Cheltenham today - Best sporting day of the year by far. Forget the gold cup day, this is the best day of the bunch and even better not everyone knows it. Its not silly packed either.

First day is always hard as the official ground description is wrong more often than not. The winner of the first will have a bearing on some of my bets today but I can't be backing Binocular at those prices (5 year olds 1 winner in 75, although there are plenty to choose from today) and beaten round his only previous Cheltenham start. I'm not saying it wont win but 15/8 is no price in a 23 runner race with question marks over the market leader. Osana E/W for me (and I've also done Sizing Europe anti post at 6-1 Doh)

Torphican in the 1st seems to have the right profile of all runners today and Hot Weld in the William Hill has been tipped up to us by Ferdy who owns one of our (very shit) horses.

Good luck all - For the uninitiated picking winners here is very tough.

Not sure how expert it is but I have just walked the course and I'd say it's certainly no worse than good to soft at the moment. There's a strong wind right in your face coming down the hill too, which will probably dry it out a little by this afternoon.

Always forget how tricky it is to actually make any selections on that site. There doesn't seem to be a 'Make Your Selections Here' button anywhere so far as I can see.

So, to save anybody else having to scrub arround the site for ten minutes trying to find out how to make any selections, here is THPP's step-by-step guide to making your entries:
