Hooligan jailed after fatal fight
A football fan who killed a man with a snooker ball concealed in a sock has been jailed for four years.
Martin Thorn, 40, died from head injuries after being attacked in a Bristol pub by Joseph Dowman, 27, who had mistaken him for a rival supporter.
He died of head injuries in hospital three weeks after the attack in 2006.
Mr Justice Owen sentenced Dowman, from Coronation Road, Bedminster, at Bristol Crown Court on Friday. Dowman had already admitted manslaughter.
Officers said the fight was sparked when Dowman and friends, all Bristol City fans, sprayed pepper gas at Mr Thorn's friends, believing they were Bristol Rovers fans.
