The rate that AI is evolving is so exponential that it is scary.
Chat GPT became immediately popular on its release in November 2022. It blew our minds at the time.
But in such a short space of time, AI has developed so quickly, that it has since blown our minds again and again through image generation, then audio generation and now it's moving image generation, all in a space of a year.
What next? We are already starting to see the first AI feature length movies. But it will improve at all media creation - become more unique, creative and convincing. By the end of 2024, we will see media that will be indistinguishable from man-made creations, except by experts.
But what's really going to blow our minds, and probably cause some real problems for many, is how it will start to do every day human jobs considerably better (and cheaper) than humans can. This is already happening, but it will become extremely noticeable by the end of the year, and it will become a serious problem by this time next year.
It’s quite discombobulating how good AI is getting; unfortunately I don’t foresee a brake on it if it moves too fast for some. For example Star Wars is a cultural touchstone for many but now you can make a short film mashing its actors faces and cultural setting. This is just taste of what’s to come AI will really turn things up side down.
