We picked him up from the Eerstedivisie - Dutch second tier - and he's going back to play in the top tier on loan. Not bad in half a season and how he does will tell us a great deal about his potential.
He has been homesick after moving away from his family for the first time so this will potentially do his development and self belief good and he will get a lot more game time in competitive matches than our u-23's can offer.
Can't see anything not to like about it and he can come back for a full preseason and compete to make his mark.

Correct in principle however the Dutch 1st Division is about the same standard as bottom of Championship. Unless he blows it away he will only come into our squad if we go down

Must be homesick as wouldn't make any sense to loan back to a Dutch club and not a L1/L2 side over here.

Perhaps they realise his signing was a mistake so by putting him the window , not in the Amsterdam style, he may get bought back by a Dutch club to recoup some money.

There was an article published here about him settling in apartment near Hove station. Seemed a very nice young man. He is probably gutted.

I pointed that article out at the weekend and someone was kind enough to get it translated (i really recommend reading it) and broke the Sparta rumour on the "no signings today" thread.
He is still very young - 22 - and he is learning a totally different way to play than his previous experience. It often takes overseas players that bit of extra time to adapt but at his age there's also the balance of needing competitive game time in an environment where he can develop. Writing him off on here is just ignorance but nothing new there I guess.
Shame people can't show the patience to wait and see what transpires rather than slag him off
