Some people (probably quite rightly) said it was sick as the copper got injured, but what about this one? Yes, there was a streaker, the police correctly acted initially and got him on the ground. Then decided to smack him in the face with their nightsticks in full view of the entire stadium.

Result? Players AND fans attack the police. In this one, I have no sympathy for the police, wearing a uniform doesn't give you the right to be the thug.

(This happened in Portugal, btw)

I couldn't see the lad getting "smacked in the face with a nightstick", but it does appear to be an excessive use of force just toward an attention-seeking fanatical supporter with a flag. The cavalry obviously related to the fellow and reacted accordingly.

Seeing as it then should be up to their justice department to view this, they should release the perp as having suffered punishment, and the police department should suspend the officers pending re-training. The cavalry ought not to have encroached on the field but unless they see fair responses from their justice department then they are going to feel a need to act themselves.

He wasn't doing anything to stop the one who was though.

The one who went in heaviest, was the one who ran away. Typical bully boy.

I actually thought the guy to left can be seen to mouth something which to me appears to be indicating he wants the bully to stop.
