I've got a digital camera which I use for pics and short videos, but it's no good in dim lighting.

I was contemplating whether to buy a new camera to do both, or get a camcorder and keep the camera for photos. Any suggestions on makes/models please? Not looking to spend a fortune, maybe £200-£300.

Thanks in advance.

Flip Video camcorders are pocketsized and outstanding in low-lighting. For example, I've used my Flip Mino to record breakdancing in clubs in tournaments and I have been very impressed with how well the footage came out.

Just a word of warning, Flip is a brand manufactured by Cisco Systems who announced on the 12th April this year that they were “killing the Flip portable video camera business” as part of a restructuring process.

Hopefully it means you can get a Flip camcorder for a discount! A real shame that the Flip is being discontinued. Having bought the Flip business from Pure Digital, Cisco clearly don't know what they are doing in the consumer market and trashed a great product.
