am working in liverpool for two weeks and am staying at the adelphi hotel. Since booking i've heard loads of bad things about it? Has anyone else stayed there who could give some feedback on it? Ta

is the gym still full of "he men" and the sauna rather unusual? If you park in the car park be prepared to wait ages to get out whilst they shuffle the cars about!

rude, and in one experience, violent staff.

Cancel that booking and stay at a non-moribund nationwide hotel chain.

Chicken Bazooka? That closed years ago, but their food was wonderful I have to agree.

It's quite fun in the bar the night before the Grand National, watching loads of jockeys with rides in the race next day getting completely arseholed. Counted 25 (out of 40) a couple of years ago, and that was at 2am.

Wouldn't dream of staying there, though, filthy old hole of a place these days. There are dozens of better places at half, or even a third, of the price.

On a train...
Well rospants sent me a couple of MMS messages with pictures of her room, and it seems pretty decent, and she said said it's quite groovy, and even has a jaccuzi in her bathroom.

I stayed in there when we beat Liverpool in the league at Anfield.

Most bizarre one I had was a hotel in Manchester can't remember the name, but a similiar old one in the city centre.

Stayed there through work and the place had more than a bit of a reputation as a knocking shop for footballers, celebs etc. i.e. expensive but very seedy.

Most surprised when checking in to find my room came equipped with trouser press, tea and coffee making facilities and a traffic cone.
