Challenge on Van Persie was a bit naughty, but come on, if we're allowed the occasional guilty pleasure, how funny was it that he ran the entire length of the pitch to wind up the Arsenal fans?

Shame somebody else got injured as a result (a steward) and frankly if they'd twatted him he could have had no complaints, but for sheer mental-ness, it takes some beating.

Very entertaining game.

Utter wanker and you cannot be serious about studding Van Persie in the face. He will be banned for 6 games next week.

What are you talking about, I quite clearly said the van Persie thing was naughty.

And while I don't doubt the FA will kick Adebayor's arse for the celebration too, I was simply saying that in all honesty, I confess to finding it a tiny bit funny when I saw it.

Naughty ?.

What do you want me to say? Evil beyond belief? A crime against humanity? No need for the drama, it was wrong but frankly that wasn't the point of this thread. The point was Adebayor being nuts enough to run 100yds and risking a complete shoeing just to make a point.

Just far enough away from LDC
For all the crap the Arsenal fans gave him, he answered them ON the pitch where it mattered. In the same way as we had great fun rubbing Chesterfield's noses in it a few years ago, all Adebayor has done is shown some red blooded passion plus a large dose of revenge.

I think we all have wanted to do something similar at some time or other

To his credit, he was smart enough to stay out of range of the missiles that were aimed in his direction from the Arsenal fans.

I'm sure there'll be a warm welcome for him at the Emirates for the return fixture.

The studs were pretty poor, but to be honest, Van Persie has a similarly nasty streak himself, so I was quite pleased that it was him who got the shitty end of the stick this time. His statement on the Arse website was laughable.

The 100 yard dash on the other hand was pure comedy, made even funnier by the pseudo "hold me back" bullshit from the Arsenal fans behind the goal. No one ever has the bollocks to attempt getting on the pitch and having a proper pop at the player do they?

Long before last night I'd have made Adebayor top of my most hated footballers list for reasons ranging from being a mercenary, charmless and ungrateful twat, to being able to speak uninterrupted streams of bollocks for literally minutes without pausing for breath in a very annoying voice. He did Van Persie good and proper, hope he gets banned for weeks.

BUT. To all those who say you can't condone that kind of celebration, yes you can and I am. Of course it looked ridiculous, but it's like it is assumed that if a player scores and responds to what I'm sure was merciless taunting, the crowd HAVE to riot. No ifs or buts, no personal responsibility, no R2D2 restraining bolt. It's the law. Maybe it should be less about the player in that situation, and more about the crowd managing their own behaviour. I'm sure they were all joining in the singing.

That rake was very nasty. he knew it was his face and he deliberately attempted to (and succeeded in) slicing his face open. Doesn't matter who is under the studs - that was a genuinely spiteful action that could have taken van Persie's eye out. Nasty fucker and will rightly get a big ban.

Nice one Wankabeyor

It later emerged that a match steward needed hospital treatment after being hit by a flying object in the wake of Adebayor's goal celebration.

Important win for Man City - Hughes
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "The steward received a head injury from a flying object which appeared to have been thrown from the direction of the away end.

"We were told the steward was unconscious for a few seconds before being taken to hospital and later discharged."

Anyone who thinks Adebayor's actions were 'funny' should remember the outrage that Nathan Jones caused on here:

Nathan Wanker Jones - North Stand Chat

Not so funny when the shoe is on the other foot.

Odd so many people have sad it was funny and they would have turned the other cheek. Would they would they really ?. I cannot believe people are condoning Adebayors actions with either trying to blind Van Persie or running 100 yards to provoke the Arsenal fans and cause a public riot. Quite extraordinary.
