A lot of people want Adams OUT, and have been pretty vocal about it. There are a few (maybe the minority) that still want Adams in. So what are peoples reasons for actually wanting Adams to stay.

I do want him in, but my reasoning maybe all wrong....

What are you talking about, changing your manager guarantees finishing at least one place higher in the league table :dunce:

That's one of my main reasons for wanting him in, which I dont know is a right reason to keep him in a job. That and the fact Glenn Hoddle is still unemployed.

It has to improve at some point, surely?

I don't particularly want him in, but the fact that he isn't going to be sacked this season means it is pointless to have all these Adams Out polls.

I am sure we will stay up, I am just hoping he will be able to build a good enough team to make us competitive next season

Hoddle is busy with that 'Second chance' academy so we should be ok!

It always depends on the results and the work he's doing. Nothing new there, when we're talking about football.
When the results are shite, his management is culpable. Imho he could already have been ousted, Wilkins shouldn't have been elbowed.
However, I'm an Albion supporter, so regardless - I want the team to win. If Adams made that happen then I'd be happy.

Right now though, we have gained a couple of points in a month and are in the relegation places. One point was against a relegation club who were leading 2-0, one against the top club who are way ahead of their rivals - but we need to be getting THREE points more often, at home AND away occasionally.
A couple of tough points away are all well and good, but it certainly doesn't change things... as yet.

What a dumb poll this is. Fact of the matter is we are not going to be challenging for a play-off place this year as we did last year. That is a backward step. Now, Adams may be rebuilding a team but at this rate we could be in div 2 before we start winning games. Personnally, I was happy with Wilkins and was disappointed by the manner of his departure but equally, I was not unhappy that Adams came back. However, performances so far have been far from acceptable and under most circumstances he would by now have gone but for his special relationship with the chairman who would lose too much face.

What the Adams supporters fail to acknowledge is that all the people that have, and with some justification, been knocking him recently still want him to succeed because that means the club they support are succeeding. This points scoring just because we have secured two points in successive games is churlish to say the least. New managers can turn things around mid season and stave of relegation just as some don't. It's all about opinion. Try not to forget that and try not to forget that we are all fans of the club and will probably be long after Adams has gone as well as Dick Knight and all the players.

As someone who is not a fan of Adams these are my thoughts on these reasons:

We cannot afford to pay him, Wilkins and The New Manager - We could find the money if we wanted to, after all we did to get Adams back in the first place. It is on the board's shoulders to take these decisions for the good of the club, especially if it is their mistake to start with.

Dean White might be promoted to Manager - Well he wouldn't, would he?

I believe he can turn this ship around (to the direction its just come from) - Fair enough, it's an opinion.

We wont find a suitable replacement - I think this is overly negative, we've done it before. There are plenty of decent managers out of work.

We need stability at the club so may as well keep him - This isn't a reason in itself. If you don't think Adams' can turn it around why would you want to keep him for "stability". Makes no sense.

We will end up with someone worse than Adams in charge - See won't find a suitable replacement (same thing innit?).

Its just a blip and he is still the right man for the job - Same as thinking he can turn it around?

He was great last time, he can do it again - Ditto.

Looking at the bigger picture, we should just put up with it - I honestly didn't realise we had to be 7th in January.

3 away games unbeaten and highly encouraging performances, we just need to rediscover our belief at home and we'll be in midtable within the month.

Adams deserves at least a season, probably 2 to get things to the way he wants it.

I think that given the time, he will be successful again.

The problem this season, especially at home has been the demands by the fans for instant success, beating the 7th place finish of last season and getting into the Championship.

When we didn't win the first couple of matches, there were calls for his sacking. This has meant extra pressure on him and his players (despite not getting the time to make the squad his own and get his ideas and tactics to come to the fore) and has meant that this pressure has affected the way the team approach the matches, and as the saying goes, a team under pressure doesn't perform as well as a team with no pressure on it.

Adams was given time in his first spell, but wasn't afforded it this time around despite his track record for the club. Other managers were given time by the fans despite poor football on the pitch, maybe it is because there isn't a common cause (getting planning permission for the ground) or comon foe that fans are fighting against (LDC etc..) and fans have just become used to having a target to abuse.

Brighton legend & a good, reputable manager who is simply underperforming. Of course I'm taking a leap of faith hoping that he will turn things around - but I'm still confident. Anyone & everyone who has worked with him is full of praise, and I trust their judgement more than the moaners who frankly know f*** all about what goes on behind the scenes.

Besides a change of manager would not guarantee success and could turn out to be a far more expensive mistake.

Most fans know f*** all about what goes on behind the scenes and therefore can only judge a manager by the performances of the team and the interviews he gives to explain what is going on.
Most fans at most clubs would be very unhappy with 18 points out of the last 69, 2 home wins all season, the joint fewest wins in the whole division and the 4th lowest number of goals scored.
I don't give a stuff who the manager is - I just want to see us winning.
Bha fans have got used to us yo-yoing between Div.1 and Championship this decade and our 3 seasons in the 2nd tier have also given fans a glimpse of our potential ( once we have a different base ) Thats why this season has jolted a lot of people and caused such antagonism towards the manager.

It hasn't helped thats for sure, some of the stuff i have heard from our fans towards our players etc this season is absolutely shocking.

Telling our players to f@ck off and that they are not even good enough to play in the conference, and this is while the player is about to be subbed ONTO the pitch, How the hell is this going to make the players perform or will the player just think why the f@ck should i bother if thats what the fans think? (wouldn't you expect the fans to at least see how they are playing or if ythey have any impact first before slagging them off)

All you get from these "so called fans" is well i paid over the odds so i am entitled to abuse the team as much as i want, instead they have been taking their frustations from outside and venting it at the team.

All I say is that the fans haven't really ever got behind the team and tried to cheer them on to victory this season, trying to possitively influence the result, instead they have just sat there and moaned
