I think we're alone now
should he still be playing upfront?

his last goal was a penalty, his last goal from open play was 19 games ago.

should he even be in the team

These posts are pointless.

Whatever we think, we all know that if fit, Virgo will be given the full 90.

Simple as that.

Ahhhh, I thought that said "where-ever" meaning centre back.

Virgo should be at centre-back in place of Hawkins. You know something's wrong with a player when even his team-mates dread him being in the side.

Virgo himself must be royally pissed off with the situation. He was a hugely popular player here, and when he was brought back the majority of fans were pretty pleased at the prospect.

We're now 20 games into the season, and he's had ONE match in his preferred position [by sheer co-incidence a match in which we beat the richest club in the world].

He has been asked to play the other games at centre midfield, right wing, right back and centre forward, given no chance to settle properly, and now has the fans on his back, pretty much through no fault of his own.

Now, in the summer, the day after the Lewes freindly, I met Adam Virgo when he kindly came along to support our efforts at the NSC /REMF 6-a-side. During our conversation, I commented [politely!] that he hadn't looked like he was enjoying his 45 minutes up front at the Pan.

He told me that he HATES playing up front, has NO DESIRE to play there, but that he was fine with the situation, as Micky Adams had PROMISED him that he would only ever use him in that role in an emergency situation.

Personally I think he's been f***ed right over by Adams so far this season, and if he hasn't already, should front up to him and tell him to stop being a prick and let him do what he's good at.

I think the majority of people know its not Virgo's fault he is playing upfront, but the manager could do the decent thing and either play him centre back or drop him to the bench.

It is pointless playing him anywhere else as he looks totally lost. I still think he is a great player in defence, but as he has only played there once and a couple of times for 15 minute spells, he looks awful.

He is obviously trying hard, but if we want to compete in this division, then his best efforts are not good enough playing centre midfield, right wing, right back and centre forward, but that is not his fault!

Well hopefully the penny has finally dropped re: Hawkins (but I also thought that might be the case when he was subbed off at half time against Leeds) and we can get Virgo back in the defence.

He's not even any good up front. He had a one off decent season there when we were playing a totally different way. We were on the back foot in most games and Virgo's only job was to work hard, hold the ball, battle for stuff and keep the pressure off. Fortunately for us he also showed that he can finish as well, but he was never really a striker. Give it up.
