Considering his run of form how close is he to be in the running in the egyptian national team , dont know much about their standard of players but could he make it ?

Would he choose Egypt? He's half English isn't he?

They regulary win the African Cup of Nations so I don't see how he'd improve a defence already capable of keeping Drogba and Eto'o at bay.

though egypt are probably better than England i think he has a better chance in the Egyptian squad

...not so sure, following our dreadful showing at the last World Cup he might be better waiting to see what happens if we make it into the Championship...if he gets noticed by a Premier League club anything is possible!

it seems unreal even suggesting such a thing concerning El Abd but i cant ever remember in 40 years of following Brighton, a player to have improved his game so much in the space of a year or so , hats off to him

Gus did say when he took over, that El-Abd was Brighton's best player. Be interesting if he could be asked if he would consider playing for Egypt.

England are the 6th best team on the planet. Unfortunately I don't think Adam would have much of a chance there.

Didn't they say last season that they would look at him if he was a championship player? Can't imagine they have that many center backs better than Adam to be honest

Thats a good point they have won it 7 times and the holders so they must be pretty solid at the back

I'm sure I read somewhere that they would only consider players in The Chamionship or above. Will be interesting to see what happens IF we were to get up.

England are the 6th best team on the planet. here.

France are 24th ish, which would put paid to any credibilty of those rankings. France looked light years ahead of us a few weeks ago at Wembley.

Is there anyone who REALLY is stupid enough to think England are the World's 6th best team?

Light yrs ahead of 2 England regulars and 9 kids / fringe players / squad players - that gives no credibility to your theory. But let's not go over people being anti England Man U fans on this board - us England fans are aware of them already :jester:

What have england won in the last 40 years, and what do we currently hold, then what have Egypt won in 40 years and what do they currently hold?

Those rankings mean nothing, it is results that matter and Egypt are much better at getting them.

Keep that head in the sand. When was the last decent performance by a full strength England team against decent opposition? Should be an easy one if they really are 6th best in the World.

You do look a bit of a dick attacking anyone who criticises England. They ARE shit - FACT

Oh for f*** sake. Anyone comparing El-Abds chances of getting in the England squad similar to his chances of getting in the Egyptian squad
are just idiots.

Adam will never, ever be in the England squad. He may however, if he keeps improving, have a shot at getting in the Egyptian team I'd expect.

You actually thnk Egypt are better than England - laughable. Even the original poster was prob joking. Those rankings must mean something as they're based on 'games won and lost'... As for what have we won - In international football there's 2 top comps every 4 yrs - that's a bit like saying the Albion are shit cos they've never won the FA Cup or Prem Lg. Anyway, not getting into another row with you anti Englang brigade - the thread's on El-Abd.

The original question i was asking was isn't he half Egyptian half English. Or is he English with Egyptian heritage?
