He had a bad game yesteday but he is a good player, I am sure Slade will sort him out tactically for Tuesday. As he said yesterday someone has to step in and do a job and they have a hard act to follow. If its Adam lets get behind him, he has the right attitude.

Lets hope he proves lots of people wrong and helps keep a clean sheet and bag a winner.

When I've seen him this season he seems afraid to attack the ball - he rarely closes an approaching player, often backing off so much the opponent can pretty much walk it to the edge of the penalty box, and the long ball bounced over him and he seemed to be trying to avoid touching it.

Has he ever been able to defend that ball? He can't head the ball straight. He's not good enough to be a professional footballer, never has been. At his absolute best he's occasionally been able to hide his inability for us, mainly because he gets played in a position where he can't cause too much damage (defensive midfielder). Not to have a go, because if I got the chance to play for the Albion when my actual level was County League I'd be in there giving it me all as well, but he's one of the reasons we are in our current predicament.

Totally agree.

The worst I've seen him play this season , was at Carlisle. He seems to have nightmare games which we remember and tend to forget those when he has been OK.

shocking today ...lets hope he is not needed again for the season

One bad game, never feel the need to make posts when he actually has a good game and controls defence/midfield do you? Ignorant attention seeking cretin.

it really pisses me off the way people come on here and criticise El Abd, Fraser, Loft, and Hawkins - yes the people who never played anything above County League reserves at best or the odd Sunday league game.

ok El abd, Fraser, etc are not as good as Ferdinand, Gerrard, Lampard or Giggs, but they're playing for the Albion and doing their best. Sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn't - whatever happens, they are doing their best.

Gerrard doesn't turn up in an average car or live in an average house - our players do so don't expect too much.

Have a moan, shout, swear, but don't come on here pretending to be a Sky football pundit. Stop watching the Premier League and acting "superior".

Let's have some faith in all the managers who have picked them who might just know a bit more than we do.

Even if it's just for the next two weeks let's get behind everyone who puts on an Albion shirt.

Oldham played a differcult ball several times that caused him problems and would have Elphick if still on the pitch, support from a decent left back would of helped. They scored once but we survived the others because of the the guts and commitment of Adam and others. He has been one of the good things for Albion this season do not knock him he is the sort of player we need and always will whatever level we play at.

What bollocks. You might as well close NSC down.

I did not see El-Abd play today and I haven't seen him play since Colchester on Boxing Day, but he does, in my opinion, suffer from levels of abuse that are shameful. Yes, he is not and will not be a world cup player (unless Egypt get their act together and he plays himself in), but he is not as bad as people tend to make out.

The trouble with him is that he has become a sort of utility player and has been squeezed into positions that he is not accustomed to playing. He is not a robot and it will take time to settle in any given position, if he has been playing elsewhere.

To summarise, he is not the best player at the Albion. If he were to play to his very best every game, then he would not be an Albion player (...and before you say it, I am not referring to him dropping down the leagues). He has been an important player for us in the past and each and every manager over the years has seen fit to play him. Wasn't he one of the most improved players when we were in the Championship?

and you wouldn't be able to tell a mechanic that he was doing a bad job and that another mechanic could do better (this could but won't go on and on!!!)

If a mechanic needs to change a spark plug and is fiddling about with the bolts on my back wheel, I'd feel quite comfortable telling him h was doing a bad job. If I needed my fan belt replaced and he was fiddling with the windscreen wipers I'd tell him another mechanic can do a better job.

El-Abd struggled on saturday because Oldham did what we did in the first half. We changed sides to start so the wind would blow against us. We then played long balls over their defence using the wind to bring the ball down in awkward positions allowing us to get behind them. Oldham utilised this tactic in the second half and El-Abd struggled coming on and having to quickly get to grips with this play (which can only happen once or twice a season with the right conditions). He was fine for the last 25 mins of that half.
