I honestly don't know what was wrong with him today. He has generally been solid over the last couple of years when called upon to play centre half, but today he was poor. He looked incredibly slow (more so than previously?) and lacked confidence. I have no doubt that he is and will continue to be an important player for us, but I would avoid playing him there on Tuesday.

Saying that if he is played there I am sure he will be desperate to do well and I hope he proves us wrong.

Maybe he's a player who would benefit from being taken out of the comfort zone and sent on loan somewhere. Might just focus his game a bit.

What's the situation with Hinch and Hawk? We'll also need a right back. I'm now very worried about our next 2 games - both against in-form teams.

Tuesday will be a match for rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in - El Abd's, Fraser's and Hart's forte. This Rovers pitch is bumpy, they'll be no silky football and we'll just have to battle. If El Abd plays he'll have a good game.

You may be right.

On the other hand that might may destroy what little confidence he seemingly has at the moment.

He had a poor game today however he has been immense at other times this season.

Hopefully a bad day at the office.

I genuinely think it's the pressure getting to him now. He got caught three times with the same overhead ball. The first led to a goal, the second almost, and he got away with the third. Caught in two minds each time. Reckon he'll have a stormer at right back at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.

I hate these threads to pick on an individual. I don't think it's neccessary to single out an individual player and pick on him relentlessly. Obviously he had a poor game today, he was awful in fact. But does it really need a thread to slate him?

I still think he's important for us in terms of the ability to play in different positions and give 100% effort, if nothing else... When he puts on the shirt, support him.

Exactly and already stated hopefully just a bad game.

Out of interest how long is Elphick out for then? He seemed not too bad before he went off. I thought maybe a dead leg? But then there is talk of him leaving on crotches?

Has he ever been able to defend that ball? He can't head the ball straight. He's not good enough to be a professional footballer, never has been. At his absolute best he's occasionally been able to hide his inability for us, mainly because he gets played in a position where he can't cause too much damage (defensive midfielder). Not to have a go, because if I got the chance to play for the Albion when my actual level was County League I'd be in there giving it me all as well, but he's one of the reasons we are in our current predicament.
