Just wanted to say thanks again for all the comments and advice at the time.

10 days ago I had a patella auto graft using the tendons from my other leg for the graft, full arthroscopy, MCL repair and meniscus repair. I'm on the way to recovery now. Waking up after OP was pain I had never felt on that level, IV morphine was a dream. Long way before football again but back in physio and walking without crutches again so happy days.

Thanks again guys

Make sure u stick with the physio and put your own time into exercising the knee. I didnt and havent been able to get back to football since.

Best of luck with the recovery. Never had what you had but as an oldie have had both knees replaced. As others have said do the exercises. hey hurt like hell but are well worth. At 70 I can still play a mean game of footie with the grandsons .. well for about 10 minutes. I call it 5 a side as in 5 minutes !

Im sorry to here this buddy. Tore my ACL playing Saturday football over 5 years ago now. Worst injury I have ever had. I will tell the truth as people tried to sugercoat it for me when I done it.

1. Without pro help it is difficult and nye on impossible to come back and be as good at football as you were.
2. Your Knee will always feel weak & you will be nervous if you do play footie on it or go clubbing for ages after the op.
3 The op was terrible, I had retained water in my my calf after & the pain was excruciating.

Positives are that the swelling from a cruciate will go down around a week from now and you will be able to walk & drive (just be careful). Dont do what I did and think oh I will just play on it dont cos it WILL go again and you will experience that pain again.

Good luck to you it really is the worst injury I have had. Keep us updated wont you?.

PS after being out of football for 1 year from op to being ready for a Sunday League match I scored a goal & had a little cry on the pitch, There is light at the end of the tunnel

Stay positive, be patient and do the rehab is the best advice I can give you. The good thing is you had the cover to get the op done quickly and now you just need to follow the surgeons and physios advice. Good luck fella.

Done mine at the ripe old age of 38. Six months later was back and playing and eventually played my last full game at 45. Also had mine repaired privately and i think that made a lot of difference. Please be aware that i also ensured that any training was done away from Astro surfaces until i had built up the muscles sufficiently.
