It was definitely open when I went there in about 2001! Maybe they closed it down and reopened it?Wow, I had no idea it was that long ago. I played there in 88/89

Really ? I think it’s brilliant there. International judo events and a great athletics set up. Spent so much time there with my lad.To think that the K2 was being slated on here just a few days ago.
I had my first swimming lesson in the old King Alfred pool, my mum didn’t warn us it was salt water! We swam in the proper old pool as youngsters, a lad at School was a great swimmer, Stephen Acres, I think he won the pier to pier race a few times.
early teens we played pool there and went bowling, used to get he bus over.
took my lad to the pool until relatively recently (6-7 years ago?) The original pool should be restored. So should the original building, may as well do the bowling alley while your at it, and put something on top . . .so much prime space for a fantastic leisure facility.
But wait, 750 cardboard flats will generate a lot more income for the council. . .

Yep they are becoming really irritating at the moment, what with the go ahead of the VG 3 phase, closing Blackman Street at the Trafalgar Street End, and swathes of shitty build to rent apartments everywhere and then wonder why there are so many f***ing cars everywhere!!No doubt the Council will want to replace the KA with housing (£££), thereby breaking national and local policy on putting housing in places vulnerable to flooding and coastal erosion.
