[Albion] Aaron Connolly - joining Hull permanently

If you read comments on articles in the local press in the North East (there was an article promoted via social media yesterday from the Boro Gazette which featured a bit about AC), the overriding opinion was that he is one of the worst strikers they've ever had - both in terms of attitude and ability (both on and off the field).

I don't really understand criticism of his on-field attitude. I think the bloke is a complete bellend with an attitude (or at least immaturity) problem generally, but on the field he always looked like he was trying his heart out to me, he is just nowhere near good enough for the Premier League yet. The club made a big mistake with his pathway to the first team, they should have insisted on the Ben White approach. I think if he'd have played any other position than a striker, they would have done. I doubt they'll make that mistake again.

I'd be amazed if we don't ship him out on a permanent deal this Summer. Assuming someone will take him of course.

He thinks that a Premier League footballer must be completely cut off from the rest of society, and have no interactions with anybody any of us could possibly know. Maybe it's like that with the likes of Ronaldo / Pogba / Salah etc, but with a Brighton & Hove Albion player in a sleepy county like Sussex it doesn't work like that. I have friends who work in pubs he goes in, I have colleagues who's friends socialise with him, I know the guy that cuts his hair and hair of his team mates etc etc. They all say very similar things, which they don't about any of our other players. I've also driven behind him on the A23 for a while, that was an experience, I can tell you.

It is odd why Swansman can't fathom the possibility that maybe, just maybe, one of our players is a bit of a dick. A bit more of a dick than any of the others.

Someone used to regularly text me with when Duffy had been in the Casino and until what time, I can tell you Dunk has had some very nice work done in his garden recently. Bruno used to chat to everyone when his son was playing Sunday football (probably still does but my son has given up) and everyone used to see Calde out and about in Hove chatting to all and sundry with a big smile.

It's a small place, people talk and most know the good guys from the bad.

Duffy's career was on a massive downward spiral to oblivion - but he managed to sort himself out and recover. he has succeeded in giving himself another year in the PL He still has another year on his brighton contract and will likely play that out (however many games he gets) and after that could well have another 4/5 good years playing for a top half Championship team.

Yeah very impressed with the way Duffy came back and knuckled down preseason, and even though he didn't get much game time towards the end of this season, always looked like he was enjoying being here and was an important and respected member of the squad. Hope Connolly can do similar. There is definitely a good player in there somewhere

The unfortunate reality is that only a tiny percentage of underage players go on to have anything approaching a decent professional career - and a huge percentage of those who don't end up dropping out of the game completely. That is the case with any club and any underage international set-up. Saying that there is an increadible amount of talent coming through the Irish underage teams - not least those you mention - and the odds are quite a few of them will become major stars in the game - I would put Ferguson into that catagory (along with Bazunu, Kelleher, Parrott, Omobamidele, O'Shea, JohnJoe Patrick and possibly Nathan Collins, Garcia McNulty, Tayo Adaramola and Johnny Kenny).

he comes across a lot more knowledgeable than you on that subject to be fair , my daughter is going out with Grealish's cousin here in Perth , the whole family are good footballers but they have all said there are better lads at home who just lack the drive and direction to be pro's .....they just love the bevy and the craic .

Most of those "off field antics" getting reported in the media are absolutely nothing. People reacting to Aaron Connolly ****ing a woman during Covid, telling his girlfriend he doesnt want her on Love Island and later getting screamed at by the same girl... yeah, it makes them idiots and tabloid slaves.

As for Commander I'm pretty sure he (it may have been someone else but I dont think so) said in the former thread that his clients at work had been talking about Aarons partying, then that a bartender had told him about him, and now he knows his barber, his "colleagues friends" socialise with him etc... you know what, I'm not buying any of this.

I don't buy that you know anything about Lewis Dunks garden either. If any of you bring some evidence - like naming that barber or the physio who thinks Sanchez is lazy or the staff member who says he isn't - then I would be more inclined to believe a "word on the street" shit your using as "evidence" for this this or that.
