....how PAINFULLY bad is ITV's football coverage?

Someone please tell Townsend he doesn't need to startevery sentence with "I tell you what...". The commentator is inane as usual, while neither Ian Wright nor Teddy Sheringham had a clue what the rules were in relation to handball just now. you'd think thirty odd years of playing would lend them some insight, but no.

Bloody shameful. It needs to be BBC or SKY or forget it.

Shocking decision to give the rights to these amateurs.

I love how people are always moaning about EVERY broadcaster. Seriously, noone is ever happy. I don't see a problem with ITV's coverage, obviously the studio punditry is going to be an absolute disaster with Ian Wright involved ("he's not getting got at" :lolol: ) and Pleat is a boring so and so in the commentary, but come off it, there's nothing wrong with their coverage, so stop moaning.

Things wrong with it:

Commentator
Pleat
Presenter
Graphics
Adverts, adverts adverts
Not enough post match time to analyse and interview properly

ITV is a channel for the working classes....

Anyone catch X factor tonight?

Pleat is the worst commentator... "IN THE WORLD". Every match he commentates on he veers off the football and talks utter nonsense at the most inappropriate times!

He says things like, "Green takes the goal kick and wow that is hovering a long time in the air, rather like the time that UFO hovered above my patio while Mick MCarthy played chess on a board made out of saliva and pieces made out of a frogs Gluteas Maximus"

He talks utter cock and is regularly just met with a grunt from the other guy, Clive Tildsely?, who always sounds like someone has just got an estate agent from Halifax to do the commentary.

Tildsely?" Ah now coming off the bench is Slayacat Myarseavich who by the way owns a lovely detached property right near outer crackpot, what a bargain the place was and who gives you extra hey Slayacat?
Pleat"Yes Clive it is rather nice... as a matter of fact Mick MCarthy lives around there but there is a problem as the altitude is so high and the wind so strong his nose is being pushed even further to the side they may just stick a clock on his face and give him a rotating nose to use as a compass.

The Beeb is just different class, even more so on radio. When they start using an ex-player as a pundit, they a) pick very carefully in the first place and b) give them a crash-course in radio journalism, so they actually have a clue. Plus train them not to make some basic common errors (England instead of Britain, how to say players' names etc etc). It's all real common sense, but other don't bother. Dunces need not apply. Presumably Ian Wright on TV was the exception that proved the rule.

South Wales (im not welsh !!)
Turn the volume down and lisen to the radio commentry, at least the England game was being shown on a channel that everyone could watch for a change.

When it is shown on Sky or the likes, many people then moan they cant watch it.

It's EXACTLY the same, it's all in your head. ???
No it isn't. The picture quality on ITV is always inferior to Sky or BBC. Previously I'd blamed ITV but apparently it's Sky's fault for the way they broadcast the ITV regions.

Absolute Tosh. Sky have no control over ITV or anybody else as regards picture quality. Thats decided by the broadcaster and if ITV decide on lousy bitrates for their transmission then thats down to them.

No it's not tosh, it's to do with how sky transmit the regional ITV's through the same channel (wrong word I know tech nerds).

I did say APPARENTLY rather than offering it up as cast-iron fact. And the reason I said 'apparently' was because I read it on here! (Can't be arsed to look for the thread but it was one of the Sky tecchie types who said it). Like you I thought it was down to ITV.

However the bottom line is the picture on ITV IS inferior to Sky and BBC. Therefore, and not for the first time, Ninja Elephant was talking out of his ignorant arse.
