As I was wlking to the ground a car came from Withdean down the road, not sure of the name of it, with the ground on his right.
He approached the road closed signs and demanded that the steward let him through to go under the bridge. The steward told him to to turn around go back up the road and turn right to access London Road near the junction with Carden Ave. To which the driver replied ' that puts an extra half a mile on my journey I shall be glad when your lot are kicked out of here at the end of the season'.

Whilst I do not accept that this will happen for a number of years yet I am concerned that SOMEBODY is giving these residents the ammunition and hope that this will be achieved and we shall get 'kicked out at the end of the season'.

A little worrying, one can only assume that he is a resident of the area, surely by now he would have known that the road under the bridge would have been closed on a footy Saturday. Perhaps he might reflect on the service the club are providing, he is getting his local roads cleared of rubbish every couple of weeks, surely more often than just about anywhere else in Brighton, all at no cost, I bet he complains about that when we are gone.

Yes but he had to endure a walk with the Warrior and a last minute goal yesterday. So all in all a great weekend for him. :lolol: :lolol:

Just another ill informed nimby by the sound of it. I mean how would a non football supporting biddy know about that sort of thing when none of us on here do?

He probably assumes we'll get the go ahead for the stadium and be out straight away. Din!

Who's saying things like that?

Tom Catt.

The bloke who managed to defeat the council over the seat expansion. He's now aiming to have the whole Withdean arrangement overturned in the high court. Council-tax payers have had to refund his 30 THOUSAND pound legal bill because the Council didn't conduct a full environmental study over the proposed expansion.

He lives behind the stadium and he f***ing HATES the Albion with a passion that exceeds most Palace fans. He's been carrying on SWEAT's war for the past few years, spending quite a bit of cash as his legal bills show. His overall aim is to shut us down. Simple as.

You may have read his letter to the Argus on Friday (his address was witheld for some reason) in which he revealed the support he has been giving to Falmer villagers. Yup, he not only wants us out of Withdean, he also wants Falmer to fail. That should give you an indication of his views on the Albion. He claims he wants us to "move somewhere appropriate". I can only assume he means the dustbin.

He is going to go all-out in his attempts to get us kicked out of Withdean. We are facing another battle here, just as the Falmer fight is drawing to its conclusion.

Tom Catt

A name like that just has to be made up. Doesn't it? Is his best mate Jerry Mouse?

(Apologies if these 'jokes' were done before but I really can't be ARSED to scroll through pages to check that they haven't. And it's my birthday. So there)

He might be ok tho...... he's got 9 lives:glare:

I didnt think to get the number of the car but it was driven by what was described in my younger days as a hippy type with wooly hat and goatee beard. Somebody is obviously stiring up the residents before the council hear the application for our continued use.

I believe that MP said earlier that it was a virtual formality to continue using Withdean but we still had to apply and get permission as our existing one had run out..

Back in 1999 SWEAT were considering taking the Council to the High Court over Withdean. In the end they bailed out when they realised how much money it would cost, coupled with the fact that they would almost certainly lose. Tom Catt is very determined but I think that he will end up reaching the same conclusion.

I've seen quite a few people over the years lose it when they've had to stop at the end of the road. There was a bloke on Boxing Day who went completely mad, kicking out at the cones, screaming and shouting at the stewards. Funny how people can lose control over a little detour.

You get the same sort of thing at Mill Road too! It is almost as if the signs back at the roundabout saying that the road is closed due to the football don't exist.

I doubt that - one of my neighbours is one of the main SWEAT leaders and we haven't heard a peep out of them for ages. This is just someone who probably misread the Argus front page story last week.
