I could do with one of them for the bathroom, where on the A24 are they??

not sure?
i got emailed that info and photos.
will find out more about em though in due course

Southbound just after Buck Barn crossing. Cant help with your bathroom plan though.

BE WARNED just because the foward facing camera says 'Camera On Test' doesn't mean the rear facing camera (which has been there for years in one guise or another) is also on test. So dont assume that is non-prosecutable aswell. Also they are infra red so no flashes to let you know your ficking nicked!

They've got a better system round my way.

They have a speed radar next to a "your speed" display, and then 100 yds further down the road there's a traffic light. If you're speeding, the light goes red for 15 seconds and you have to stop.

Works a treat at slowing people down and doesn't hit you in the pocket - and after all, isn't the point of cameras to improve road safety, not generate revenue?

As far as the UK is concerned, they are a revenue rasier, nothing more nothing less. They put one in the high street of a village near me about 5 years ago, dispite the fact there has NEVER (in all recorded history) been an accident where injury was caused by a speeding driver, in fact, i think the investigation proved there has NEVER been a vehicle accident that caused injury, however caused. They lie and tell you it is for safety, that the cameras are only put in accident black spots, bullshit, how come there aren't any along the A23 where people get killed all the time?

That road is f***ing dangerous - so the more measures they take to slow people down the better.

If there ever was an area that needed a couple of speed cameras, it would be the A27 by Middle Farm. That would slow the fuckers down, countless people have died on that stretch due to dick heads flooring it up that stretch.

And all the millions of pounds worth of PROFIT gained from these cameras should be going to charities, or support for the families who have lost loved ones innocently in road traffic accidents. That would make the persistant offenders think a bit more when they decide to put thier foot down.

I don't get why people hate speed cameras en masse. I can understand an individual who has been caught speeding feeling hatred at it.

But if people want rid of speed cameras, the simple answer is don't speed. If nobody sped the cameras would make no money. If nobody sped they would become obsolete, you wouldn't have to worry about drivers slowing suddenly, and so on.

Speed cameras aren't a problem, people speeding are the problem.

Arent they designed to get you before you reach them, so if you slow down to go through them, it is too late you have already probably been nicked.

Yep!!!!!

That sounds like a great idea.

Actually what would solve that would be a dual carriageway, i.e. turn the A27 into a proper East/West trunk road. It will never happen of course for a number of reasons - all of them wrong.
