BEST
Country pubs with beer gardens in the summer and cosy log fires in the winter.
The BBC - some of the radio and tv output is fantastic.

WORST
Tesco -- the way they are swallowing up the country is, in my view, a bit of a tragedy.

Best

Some of the scenery - Lake District, Peak District, bits of Devon and Cornwall, Highlands spring to mind.

Freedom of speech (relatively).

Rich heritage of culture and music.

Worst

Yob culture, often with an unhealthy dose of xenophobia.

Constant rain, depressing winters.

Relentless attack on the motorist to fill the coffers.

Best
Decent beer, fantastic cheese, cricket, fantastic theatre, the weather (proper seasons: never too hot or too cold), a society that has been enhanced (and continues to be enhanced) by successive waves of immigration

Worst
Too many NIMBYs, a transport infrastructue that would disgrace the developing world, the growing merging of the political parties (what happened to choice?) couple with a growing gap between rich and poor - and the two aren't unconnected.

Worst: Single mums, chavs, gayers, pakis, scousers, oyrish and immigrants who can't speak English.

Best - the countryside, Cricket at Battle or Meopham Village Green, on lazy summer days, drinks after games at pubs on summer evenings.

Worst - lack of manners and respect in society, people not able to go out on a night to Towns for fear of violence, standard of driving....oh yes WANKERS WHO USE THEIR LAP TOPS ON THE TRAIN - death by torture is far too good for these people

I was discussing this with some Anglophile Dutch friends just yesterday, and funnily enough we all agreed with this exact same thing.

That and the fact we have hills - you don't realise how much you miss them till you don't have 'em any more.

WORST

Blame culture.

I blame Steve McClaren - for EVERYTHING (except country pubs and hills).
