So, basically,

Some people call it 'Brighton Pier' because that is what it is now officially called and they object to the word 'Palace'

Some other people call it 'Palace Pier' because that is what it was called for years and years before the name change and they want everyone who reads NSC to know that they are brighton born and bred, have lived in the area for years, are 'real brightonians' and therefore BETTER fans than those people who are calling it 'Brighton Pier'.

Now, am I right or am I right?

Will always be to me (since being a young boy) "Palace Pier!" regardless of the name, it's how I've known it for years.

I have never known it as Brighton pier!

I call it Brighton Pier because thats what its called, CPFC has NOTHING to do with it !!

People insisting its Palace pier IMO share the same mind set as the Nimbys who are trying to kill the one thing we all LOVE and agree on !!

No. Some people object to the name Brighton pier as they object to the Noble organisation's attempt to interfere with the rebuilding of the West Pier. They don't want to play Noble's game for them.

Yes I did and in no way do I go around publising where I am from (That I am from Brighton) and dont see the inmportance of doing so. But in discussion about the one pier in brighton I will always refer to it as The Palace Pier.

maybe as I no longer live in Leeds but that is what I have always called it.

Well the company that owns Brighton pier is the Palace Pier company. They changed the name to put BRIGHTON on the map.

1-2-3 BOLLOCKS.

People insisting it's the Palace Pier is not NIMBYism it's just the way it should be. If you want this town to turn into a plastic playground then fair enough, I don't.

Absolutely. It's got nothing to do with football, it's about not giving in to an organisation who want to turn Brighton into a downmarket version of Blackpool.

Yes - there's the habit thing - it's always been The Palace Pier. But many believe that they were involved in torching the West Pier. And they have written rough shod over planning restrictions in order to maximise profit especially re the Victorian Theatre, which they claim to have "lost".

From this website...

The Noble Organization took over the pier in March 1984. they dismantled the theatre in 1986, on condition that it would go into storage for eventual restoration. However, it is not now known what happened to the theatre`s remains. This has led to protests from The Theatre`s Trust and other bodies. In 1995 The Noble Organization announced a £20 million expansion plan for keeping Brighton Palace pier as the 'Best in Britain' and 'Brighton at the forefront of British coastal resorts'. The plan included a two storey auditorium and restaurant at the pier head, a covered walkway, a 20ft widening of the pier`s spine and an amusement arcade and cafeteria at the foreshore.
