A story about our Chairman

You don't pay contractor's ANY money up front. Contractor's are paid either; monthly in arrears with a 14 day payment period after that month is up; or in stage payments when specified works are complete - again with a minimum 14 day payment period.

The Chairman of Buckingham wouldn't have even seriously suggested it.

He was a Marmite type of Chairman, you ether like him or not ! and during his tenure had some very hard decisions to make so wasn't everyone's cup of tea

However for some reason I find this post quite offensive though. The guy saved us from the brink and I remember when we played Plymouth at Home Park to gain promotion, both myself and my son were in the Directors Box (as was Micheal Foot). He's a good man and made a point of talking with my lad during the game and as shown, a good businessman. Don't let your memories be too short, without him we would have gone to the wall.

We all know he doesn't have the financial resources of TB but his efforts of steadying the ship and ultimately bringing "OUR" club home were absolutely priceless and that for me makes him a man that should go into Albions folklore

Totally agree with this comment! Can't believe some idiots have such short memories, he made some mistakes but without no BHA fact!

Wasn't Dick Tight STILL in charge when the BUILDING started ? So I'd say the potless pillock put 45p in Buckinghams account

Probably in postal orders as well

Most of the signings during Dicks reign were financed by Tony ... But without him we wouldn't have a club so for ever grateful but we are now in a new chapter of the clubs history and it looks like being a decent one

The MAJORITY of TRUE fans CELEBRATE the day Dick Tight was KICKED out of the club, if that TINPOT dictator was still CLINGING on we would be in the Blue SQUARE league with that CLOWN Salde as manager.

Everyone knows you never pay builders up front. Who want to spend winter with a wall missing from your lounge?

When the Chairman of the Buckingham group broke the earth on the first day of starting work on building the stadium he turned to Martin Perry and said it is usual for a sum of money be paid to us prior to work starting. A token amount would be good say £5000. The next day a sum of £45 million was paid into their account.
Of course it's not true. Even little houses aren't built with such a cavalier attitude. The whole build will have been priced and agreed in fine detail, with specific agreements on when each stage would be complete and when they would be paid for. You don't just randomly pay £45 million. It would have been paid in much smaller chunks too.

I cannot believe the vitriol that seems to be poured out against Sir Dick. My analogy is that Knight was to the Albion what the Battle of Britain was to WWII. It didn't win the war in isolation but without it the war could not have continued on to ultimate victory. Am I making myself clear?

As ridiculous stories go this is up there with Diego format signing. Nobody pays a builder until they have delivered. Especially an astute business man.

I happen to know that this is true.

TB gave the £45 Million to me to pass on to Buckingham.

Even allowed me to hold on to it for a month first.

Made me £170,000 in interest

...Which was nice!
