a sixth tour de france for lance armstrong?

Vive Le Tour

Mayo will need to dominate in the mountains to stand a chance. He won Alp d'Huez last year - Pantani was the last climber to win it - Armstrong's won every tour since.

Tyler Hamilton: hopefully he won't have to do most of the race with a broken collar bone this time - hold that thought a second .... an average in excess of 100 miles a day up and down mountains for a month on a bike with a broken collarbone (winning a stage)

Beloki's had 3 podium finishes and one big prang in the last 4 years - good outside bet (available at 130-1on betfair!)

If Ullrich hadn't
a) waited for Armstrong to catch up following the shopping bag incident last year - OR
b) had a prang on the final ime trial - OR
c) been riding for a rather scrappy Bianchi team

He'd probably have won it.

can't find any odds for Vinokourov so I guess he's not in it

Bets: (Betfair)
Armstrong to win at 2.5
Brad McGhee to win the prologue at 2.7
Beloki to win at 130 (if he gets a good start you should be able to lay the bet for a modest profit

I know sod-all about this sport, but have nothing but admiration for the competitors. It must be the most gruelling sporting event in the world. Can't say I'll be glued to ITV2 or Eurosport for the coverage, but I'll have a flick now and then from the comfort of my armchair, just to watch those poor bastards sweat and slog their way up the side of a mountain, with blokes on motorbikes weaving around in front of them taking the piss.

I am told these guys are so dedicated they frequently don't even get off their bikes to take a leak, they just go on the spot so to speak.

Never mind these sports which have to stop for TEA, that is true dedication to the cause.

I hope you didn't stoop to those kinds of lengths on Ditchling Beacon, Crabtree

:lolol:

Yes, I've heard that too.
Its provides good lubrication and protection for the chain, apparently.

thinking about (thanks Edna for putting this in my head! ) it'll be quite hard to urinate whilst on a saddle! I mean you cock 'n balls are prtty much squashed into the saddle and even on a 6mile ride to work everyday I have to.....how shall I put it....."fondle my genetalia" to relieve it of the agony! Trying to piss out a squashed penis I think would take some effort!

ok enough of that now!

Axel Merckx has to have the best name in the tour since the terror of Taskent Djamolidine AbduJaparov finally got tired of wiping out fellow competitors and innocent bystanders (and if I'm anywhere near correct with that spelling I deszerve some kind of prize)

starting to look like Beloki's not taking part either

Beloki?

Perhaps someone built a bonfire and, er, put him on the top.

Nah, finished up for the day and am now using someone else's PC, but hopefully *might* be able to get online on occasions from next week.

We will see!

Someone earlier mentioned Vinokourov. I thought he rode a tremendous race last year. UnfortunatelyI read somewhere that hes injured and out of the race..a real pity as he would have been well up there.
