Morning all.
I'm in the process of buying my first property. Yay! A 3 bed first floor flat.
And it's cheap. Yay!
But needs a re wire.... Boo! Which we will be done before we move in and begin decorating.
I've had several quotes and everyone so far has said for us to drop the ceilings to make things easier and cheaper for new routes for the power and then just vertical chase to positions. Which does make sense as we have no idea on the condition of the tubing and whether we can re pull through them.
But our ceilings are only 226cm tall as it is and I'm worried that dropping them 80mm will make the rooms feel too short and claustrophobic.
Does anyone know the minimum void needed to fit the slim fit downlights? How much gap do you actually need? A lot of manufacturers are recommending having 40mm for heat dissipation.
Or is another option to hide the cabling in mt4 trunking behind coving? Is there enough of a gap behind it to fit it all in?
