A professional performance at last (and that's just the phone-in)

Well, what a difference the SCR phone-in was today! A totally professional presentation by Steven Grant, with no flippant comments, bizarre "jokes" or self-interested mentioning of football in Worthing. And no body or group insulted. Did anybody else appreciate the difference?

I thought it was fantastic, whereas I don't like the new producer, at least the presenter let it be a fans phone in and didn't mumble on about himself, his wife, eastenders or any other rubbish he wanted to say. I'd rather have 'boring' and sensible then cliched and irritating.

You really are a little ray of sunshine aren't you.

Not a case of being a ray of sunshine more a case of not liking the style of that particular presenter as I thought that he sounded as if he had been beaten into a box and virtually told what he could and couldnt say and that he had to be politically correct at all times. As I said he didnt have an opinion on any subject and isnt the whole point of a phone in for a differing of views between the presenters and the listeners.

No. It's a fan's phone-in and the point of the presenter is to act as a catalyst for discussion and mediate well. A good presenter doesn't BECOME the central focus. It's about the fans and the football. Sounds to me like we've unearthed a little gem in Stephen Grant

So the point is every body rings in after a win and says that was a good performance we will stay up. Next caller then says the same and so on for the rest of the show, or vice versa if we lose.

I thought the host was very good.
Am bored with Harty's cliches & non balanced view on all Albion things.
As with Adams, time to move on Harty! - but do come back as a host for cover

Absolutely, I'm bored of Harty's monotone voice. Out with the old and all that....and take the bird that reads out the text messages with you.

Then the presenter moves the discussion on or probes deeper. What's the point in creating controversy just for controversies sake? There's a name for those kind of people and it's shock jock. They're egotistical numpties.

No, the host should encourage debate - hopefully in an entertaining way. That's how proper phone-ins work.

The opinions of the listeners are much more interesting/important than the host. I'm not interested in what s/he thinks, or had for dinner.

That is great if there is a discussion being held but in the case of this show the only discussion is between the person phoning in and the host.

It is all down to personal choice and I prefer the format as with Harty.

Seems like you're in the minority. Personally I liked Steve's performance and would like to hear him more often.
