Some people make jugment calls which may see stupid at the time, but their income depends on it. Perhaps she wqs briefed that people were smuggling in flares/weapons/alcohol and she should be extra vigilant.

It might seem daft on the outside, but would you be willing to trust someone you had never met?
So this season Albion away games have had flares and weapons on show? Err that would be a big fat NO.

I took 4 stuffed elephants, all had 2 tusks and a trunk and didn't get searched. I just reckon your kids looks well moody.

It really isn't the point though is it? It's all about treating people with respect and exercising common sense. Would you see the same practice at a cricket match?

In fairness going to a test match sometimes involves a much more rigorous search than you ever get at football, usually for booze........which begs the question why they are never suspicious of 1000`s of fans entering the ground with litres of vimto/tizer and cartons of mixed fruit.

Maybe it was an exercise and she was being obsevered or maybe she took her training too seriously? Hardly crime of the century.

granted it is not the crime of the century but I find it impossible to get my head around the fact that you can justify such behaviour. and I am beginning to think you aint kidding either:eek:

As I walked in with my 2 sons today a female red haired steward requested to body search my youngest's Gully teddy for hidden weapons. I laughed and said are you joking? She said no and proceeded to manhandle the poor thing before giving it back. It honestly wasn't a joke and I let her know what a stupid person she was. Unbelievable!!!

I quite often take someone in a wheelchair to football,a handful of times his utility bag attached to the chair has been searched. My initial thought has been are you serious? But i keep it a thought only, they are after all just doing a job that someone further up the line is telling them to do.

You know you were just another fan going to footy with no hidden contraband, you know the same applies to your kid and you know gully is innocent too.......but how does the steward know this.

If the search was carried out quickly and politely i dont think there is much to be annoyed about. However if the steward ripped out the innards, decapitated Gully whilst screaming Allahu Akbar then i would say you possibly have a case to be miffed.

I think it is ridiculous, assuming they weren't instructed to frisk cuddly toys, but there are a lot of people within stewarding who lack common sense. It doesn't destroy the day for anyone.

does it really need to be explained. the reason he is miffed is because gully and two little nippers hardly look threatening, or maybe in your eyes they do.
again you need to be gifted with common sense to be able to understand this.

it is just a shocking way society has become.. infringement's on someone's liberty for no apparent reason other than being a right blo*dy job's worth.

Has a terrorist, which is what you could have been dressed as a football fan, never used a child or childs toy to smuggle a bomb or similar into somewhere? Provided the search was polite and dignified I see no cause for complaint. Sooner that than some prat set a bomb off in the stadium.

as said common sense needs to be addressed. if we are going on your assumption then every f*cker in the ground should be frisked.

The well-intentioned, if a little keen, steward probably picked up Gully, gave him a quick glance and a squeeze, and handed him straight back to the O/P's offspring, and somehow it's now being turned into a human rights issue

I'm not really sure we need to be bringing terrorist bombs into this debate, however. Although- if you were the sort to be into that kind of thing- wouldn't a football match be a dramatic and impactive place to target??. Probably just checking for flares & smoke bombs etc.

It is slightly reassuring however that the fine people of NSC are capable of taking what would appear to be an innocuous event and turning it into a binfest civil rights issue.........i wouldnt have it any other way

i fully expect Godwins Law to make an irrational early appearance.

you are joking right ? lets get this straight... two nippers with an adult and a toy f*cking seagull:shootself SEARCHED FFS :shootself !!!!
if you really aren't kidding and actually agree with this sort of treatment then its not a wonder why attendances at a football match have dropped and the world has become the joke of a place it is today.
seriously fella if not a comedian are you a politician ??...just wondered like because they like you lack a serious amount of common sense..
100% true

I am in the camp that stewards need to show some common sense. At the Amex - ESL - if you bring a bag they will confiscate those little deodorants - as they nay be used as missiles. But if you have not got a bag you are not searched and your coat pockets could be stuffed with the things. It makes no sense.

And it still makes me cross that the stewards tried to search our then under 10 years of age children away at Cheltenham the first time we were there.

It may appear irrational to some but I am with the OP.
