For those who read that I as deputy leader was mysteriously absent from a large part of the Seagulls Party Conference (and no it wasn't due to Supermarket Sweep), it was actually due to a pre cursor of what I have spent today doing:

It is with great pleasure that I can announce the arrival into this world at 17.55 on 23 Feb 2007 of Junior ROSM; my son and heir

Having only left the hospital at 1.00am, of course my first duty on arrival at home was to open a beer (haven't had one in 4 weeks due to impending driving duties) and the post the news to NSC.

Sadly wont be at tomorrow's game but wouldn't it be fantastic for the new seagull's first game of his lifetime to be a win?

Cheers everyone - I think I've started the sleepless nights already as I couldn't shut my eyes last night.

I dont think I've cried as much in 24 hours since my brother ripped the head off my teddy bear when I was 2.

All I can say is that I feel more responsibility today than I have ever felt in my life - it's one thing having your own hopes and dreams and aspirations but another knowing that you now have a little life who depends on you.

It was fairly torrid day as we had plans about what kind of birth we both wanted by situations often conspire and an emergency c section ended up being required for the good of mother and baby.

The staff at the RSCH were fantastic and Claire had tremendous support and help all through. Although not a woman, I understand how important it is for the mother to feel in control and that was certainly the case yesterday where doctors and midwives explained things and made it clear what they were looking to do and why. Therefore when the decision came it was clear that they hadn't rushed into it and the reasons behind it.

No name confirmed as yet we had a few options but have settled on one that we are 'trying out'. The little star weighed in at 6lb 13 oz which bearing in mind my size is quite weeny.

I think one of the moments that will always stick in my memory was carrying little un to the window and showing him Brighton and Hove from the 13th floor. That young boy will always be proud he was born in Brighton.

I'm sorry it turned out to be a cesearian and hope that Claire doesn't feel too sore.

A good weight though. Name him after an Albion scorer today although bear in mind it could be Basir. :lolol: :lolol:
