I went to see the Richard Hambleton: Godfather of Street Art exhibition in London today.
I was totally in awe. His work is terrific, a massive influence on Banksy from back in the late 70s/80s. He has never had an exhibition before in the UK, it's free and the place was empty. It was INSANE, for thirty minutes i was the only person there (i felt totally privileged).
Anyone who has an interest in street art MUST see the work of this genius. All his contempories are dead and until recently he has been a recluse himself. Opportunites like this rarely come along. Do yourself a favour and go see.
Ignore advertised opening times, i spoke to the girl on the door and it is only open tomorrow (Saturday) and then Mon-Wed (inclusive) only and then it's gone. Central london (5 minutes walk from Russell Square tube) at The Dairy, Wakefield Street.
You'll thank me!
