Del Piero Signed for Sydney FC and Emile Heskey has just signed for Newcastle Jets.. Great news for the A-league even if they are both a fews years too old.

Just heard on the radio that Heskey's going to partner Michael Bridges up front. I think the A-league is still in 2001! I can't help but wonder whether Bridges got really pissed and ended up at the wrong Newcastle one day, and just thought "sod it, may as well pitch up here".

They are just following the MLS model. It wont be too long until they get a 'big' name playing out there. (I guess they have Del Piero)

Its about getting more people coming to the games, when Robbie Fowler played for Perth Glory the home attendances rose by a couple thousand.

Dwight Yorke, Juninho, Harry Kewell and of course, Robbie Fowler have all played in the A-League in the past. Del Piero is arguably the biggest player yet though.

A league is terrible.

brisbane and adelaide have been the only teams playing what you might call football for the last few years.....perth had their moments last season...the fact that they play in the summer here (35 degs regular)aint gonna help these euro warhorses at all ,as someone has already said, physio room will be busy.
