I said the same on other threads. Chelsea or England are jobs he could do without moving his family.

I also don't think the new owners will have a sacking culture at Chelsea. They clashed with Tuchel all the time. Jason Cundy who has great sources at Chelsea was saying that yesterday. It's clear that they want a more "Brighton like" culture. Even the owners and Tuchel disagreed about the Gilmour transfer.

Slightly disappointing that he's not repaying the faith and loyalty we showed him but these two jobs were the ones I always worried about. Of course, there could yet be a red flag that turns him off but if there is we'll lose him in December or January.

Potter was always going to leave, because of his success he has made himself highly sought after. What is so disappointing for us Albion fans is the timing and nature of this potential departure. On Sunday we were all on the crest of a wave with an emphatic victory, top four position and plaudits all round. Now we are consumed by disillusionment and doubt - where do the club go from here?

He is seemingly more interested in the long-term and is offering the kind of project we have here at Brighton but with more money and with a higher profile club. It would. be surprising if Potter didn’t go for talks and find out more. Although owner might be prepared to wait for success Im not sure their fans would be so happy with this approach.

On to the next. To Bruno who can continue the project to an extent, but will have his own ideas, or to another forward thinking coach who will have his own ideas but also play a nice brand of football.

I listed a few on the new manager thread with a few red herrings but the likes of Kjetil Knutsen, Ian Burchnall from Forest Green (who succeeded Potter at Ostersunds) or Steve Cooper who still doesn't have a proper contract at Forest. It might not be any of those three of course and you always expect the left field from TB but there are plenty of coaches out there who could keep us up this season and start building a new project.

I really don’t care how he does at Chelsea.

We were on the crest of a massive wave and I can’t help feeling that we are about to get dumped off it.

If we’d had an OK or bad start to the season it would be be so much easier to make a transition.

I doubt there could be a worse time for GP to leave

The fans will be gutted but so will the players, of course they will, and there will be a falling away as they lose their focus imo

A part of me wants GP to really struggle at Chelsea, which I know is not the attitude I should have

We really have been dumped in it and I feel for TB who has been let down imo. Our worst fears have been realised in what seems to be the blink of an eye.

Did not see this coming and still have hope that Potter turns Chelsea down, which he won’t of course.

Disappointed but have seen it all at Albion.
Sorry but dont wish him well. Hs said so often he and family love the area , Good relationship with owner of a well run club. and gets paid very well. Now of to a club that let manager who won champions league and super cup, spend 250m on players and then sack him. Sums them up buying a past it CF just days ago.
Some of Potters sayings wont go down well at Chelsea after a couple of defeats like, Must respect PL ,No easy games and it is not a matter of getting new players we have to improve what we have
A great season for me now will be top half finish for us and Chelsea out of top 6

The best senario i can think off (other than staying) is Potter leaves and does reasonably well. Then bang England come calling he buggers of leaving Chelsea to their own means. We can all feel proud of the job Brighton & Tony have done in his education. We can support England 100% and then i can wish him well. With tha added bonus of the new manader of Brighton taking us higher up the table. To be honest i was hating anyone in the prem needing a new manager as all we ever heard was Potter to (Team Nmae here).

Potter hasn’t accepted the job yet?

He was given permission to speak to Chelsea (which is 100% the right thing to do from the clubs point of view)

The club will have made their views clear and I’m pretty certain he knows that the England job is his in waiting as and when that time comes (probably January)

Maybe I’m totally wrong here but I still believe he will remain our manager come the end of play today, I don’t think everything as cut and dried as the media make out.

Being reported this morning that ‘all parties’ have reached agreement. His pre-Muff press conference has been cancelled. He’s gone.

Yep! Certainly a new approach from Abramovich’s way of sacking your coach after every other year - let’s do it after six games instead.

Potter quite simply wouldn’t take the job if he wasn’t convinced he’d have time to get his ideas across. They’ve obviously convinced him they are different from their predecessors

Dan Ashworth set the club on a path to believing in itself and transforming the culture of hanging on in there with limited resources to playing progressive attacking football in which you do not fear anyone. He's gone and there wasn't really a ripple. Potter is maybe a different matter, but still, I can't think of many times a club gets to appoint a manager when things are going so well. You don't have to change anything really, the requirements of a new manager can shortlist down who is doing similar things at other clubs. Like you say, there will be their own ideas, but I don't think the club will stray too far from a replacement that is doing things very similar to what Potter has done.

Looks like the chelsea owners are keen on a project but are their fans ready for that? Let’s be honest we have had a few spells and bumps in the road over the years to get to a team and system that has been fine tuned and allows us to put in the string of performances and results we have recently seen. As good a coach Potter is (and he is a top coach) the tops clubs just don’t allow the time for ‘projects’ anymore.

Cannot see Potter being a good fit for the instant gratification of the top clubs but understand why in your career you want to test yourself at one.

They don't. Its a job for either unproven managers who can't get a PL job or old managers who wants a last, exciting gig.

Southgate managed in the Premier League with Middlesboro and will get a PL job some time after he leaves England. I could see him being the next Palace coach after Vierra. The Team England culture was transformed by, yes, Dan Ashworth. We're not about to hire another Sven or Capello

Yeah, he managed them for three years, got them relegated and was then unemployed for years before taking the U21 manager role, which he never would have if there was even a remote chance of him getting a job in the PL.

The job is nowhere near as attractive as people think.
