Great stat but football has been played longer than the premier league. So, what is the oldest pair ever? I would have thought Stanley Matthews might be involved...

Sir Stanley wouldn't have needed an assist - he could have scored a solo effort and been top himself!!

You could well be right that an older combo will have produced a goal in the pre Premier League era but I'm not sure full stats were kept on assists back then in the same way they are these days.
