I am from Lancing and have held a season-ticket with the Albion for many years. If I have a second club then it is Oxford United: having lived in the city for eight years, I have seen the team play more than a few times. I was at the Kassam Stadium today. I have three comments to make about Oxford United's demise.
Given Albion's recent history, I cannot believe that any of our supporters could derive pleasure from seeing Oxford United relegated from the football league. For what Firoz Kassam has done to Oxford United is not dissimilar to what David Belotti and Bill Archer did to Brighton & Hove Albion. We were able to oust before it was too late the men who were destroying our club; but the damage done by Kassam to Oxford United was irreparable by the time he was chased out of town.
Action should be taken against Leyton Orient for the way that their supporters celebrated their promotion. Or should I say for the way that they celebrated their host's relegation? After the game, some half of their five thousand supporters spilled out of the North Stand and ran towards the distraught home fans, goading and taunting them. Half of the Thames Valley constabulary, many on horseback, intercepted them. There were battles on the pitch. Leyton Orient FC cannot go unpunished for the despicable behaviour of their supporters.
As for the gloating Reading supporters, what does anyone expect from that quarter? Reading represents all that is bad in modern, so-called progressive, football clubs. Oxford United played top-flight football for four seasons. How long will Reading sustain Premiership football? Where is the League Cup in the Berkshire club's trophy cabinet? Oxford United was, is, and always will be, worth ten Readings. It has a soul. Reading FC will never have one.

Sorry to hear about Oxford but they are likely to come back Carlisle-style.
Am amazed about the comments about Orient fans. The old Oxford crew in the 70s,80s,90s would have had 'em for breakfast.

Yeah orient were definatly guilty.
Having been to the reading game where the chant was " Nice ground shite fans" and to seeing Oxford a couple of times this season (with a uni friend) Oxford are worth far more than ten times of reading, the support is Superb compared to Reading.
Just remeber how lucky we are to have a shite ground but still league footy.
And a manager who is willing to work with what we have rather that the past couple who have left for the same reason.

A great friend from church is an Oxford fan as he comes from a village near Aylesbury and OU were his local club. Knowing what a decent bloke he is I am thoroughly gutted for him and them. Hearing that greedy chav Hearn go on on the radio about the jolly he is going to take them on to Las Vegas made me want to

I was thinking much the same as I listened yesterday afternoon on Radio 5. Gutted for Oxford. I hope they'll be back.

That sounds a very serious incident. Let's hope the authorities take reasonable action. Perhaps as has been suggested, a points deduction?

Hit the nail on the head. Football has been going downhill for years starting with Sky's dominance. Unless you have a club with investors who are prepared to spend many millions there is no hope for clubs like Albion and Oxford getting back into the Premier League as things stand. We also managed 4 years of top flight footie. Could we do that now even with a finished and full Falmer? For sport to be a great spectacle there has to be at least an element of competition. Not a cartel situation whereby it is always the same old clubs going up or down.

One thing that puzzled me was why give Orient 4500 tickets leaving just 7500 for Oxford fans when the match was so important to Oxford?

I expect Mr Hearn is at this very minute putting pressure on the FA for them to have points deducted. (Considering how he bleated on when we had the 4-4 game I wouldn't expect anything less.)
