I never tire of looking at any pics of the place.

Is it just me or can anyone else see a resemblance to an immense jet engine in the ark of the West stand now the nosing is being put in place?

ah, yes. well spotted.

Cheap was it? Pray tell, how much did it cost?

Ooh! Hark at you with your Monday morning arsiness. Is no-one allowed an opinion other than WOW? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the stadium, just well, not the roof covering material. But hey, I'm 12,000 miles away, I am reliant on pictures like this to form my opinions.

Perhaps I should've said "cheap looking". Better now?

Mind you, I bet it WAS a cheaper option than other considered.

I bet it wasn't!

High Tech polycarbonate, specifically selected to allow the pitch to grow properly at all times of the year. That does NOT come cheap-regardless of whether it looks cheap or not. As you've said, you're 12,000 miles away-reserve your judgement until you've actually seen it. :amex:

There is no getting away from polycarbonate profile sheet roofing material looking cheap, no matter how much it costs, simply because of the image comparisons people have in their minds i.e. the car port or veranda.

Architects have long played with this notion of what people feel materials represent, to play one material against another. How many car ports for example have been suspended under a wonderfully engineered steel arch? Exactly, and so the material takes on a new life, or image.

I for one like the polycarbonate roof in this context, and think the architects have probably balanced the aesthetics, cost, and requirements of the pitch etc. in specifying the material. I suspect it will also be an interesting material to be sat under, especially on a sunny day.

It gets a thumbs up from me!
