following on from the earlier thread about teams you like apart from the Albion, has anybody got TOO involved with a second club?

for example, in Fever Pitch, Nick Hornby goes and watches Cambridge United while at uni and it sounded like he got really into it.

I live spitting distance from a club similar to us and i love football generally, but going would be like having a mistress or being addicted to heroin or something...

I actually used to support Chelsea (because my whole family did), however coz Brighton were closer I watched them more as a kid so they were my second team. Wasn't til I moved away to go to uni that I realised I was more interested in Brighton. The old man was a bit miffed but I think he is getting used to the idea.

I went to Uni in Bolton and have no affection for the team. They are shit.

I had two enjoyable years reading BSc Advanced Football Watching in Wolverhampton and they became a very significant "second team" for me... Stevie Bull scored about 50 goals in each of the two seasons and played for England; they won back-to-back Championships and took 49,000 fans to Wembley for the Sherpa Van Final... I formed the "Poly Wolves" Society and got a free minibus to take to away games (there were only about 4 of us in the Society but the bus always got filled with friends of friends after a free ride...)

not that I would know about such a thing, but I guess it must be a bit like having two women on the go at the same time (one mid-week, the other weekends...) - following Wolves didn't diminish my feelings for the Albion as I was going everywhere watching them at the time as well (Div 3 promotion season)...

I went off Wolves after they got Molineux sorted out and had more financial stability and became just another club...

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
When I was a kid my mum and dad moved from Brighters to SWEATY in 1981 when I was 8, so I followed Aberdeen FC (and have done so ever since all over the world) and was a season ticket holder till I moved back 15 years or so later.

I have spent a lot more money following AFC that the Albion, but thats only because AFC used to make it into Europe most years, and you cant beat a trip to BELARUS :)

Having a few problems with Aberystwyth Town, but I'm sure that'll pass when I finish uni.

Used to watch WIMBLEDON fairly regularly in the mid 90's. A friend's family were all season ticket holders so there was often a ticket going spare.

Flirted with the mighty HAYES TOWN whilst at uni.

Needless to say, no affection for either now, although if Hayes surge back up through the non-league pyramid I'm sure I'll feel a twinge or two of pride. MK Dons can f*** right off, though.
