8 pin female to 30 pin male adapter

I have got my daughter a ipod style clock radio for Crimbo and wondered if there was such an adapter (8 pin female to 30 pin male adapter) where I could also connect her iPhone 4 phone with its' 30 pin female connector to the 8 pin male connector on the clock radio. There seem to be plenty of reverse adapters (30 pin female to 8 pin male). She also has an iPad mini with a 8 pin female connector hence the requirement to try and find an adapter.

I used a 30pin to 8pin adaptor when I first upgraded my ipod, the sound wouldn't play through my radio (I also tried one with an audio jack that was supposed to compensate, but that didn't work either). I don't know if that was just because I went for the cheap one rather than an official.

I don't know if that will be an issue in the other direction.
